    Default My Book: the details

So after a long month of speaking with publishers, publicists and companies I have finally begun the long road to publishing this book.

It has taken me a long time, but I'm there, the book is now 3 chapters from completion.

I've been working on it for a number of years, creating the characters in my head, the environments, and the plot which will be spread throughout the series.

    Now onto what is is:

The book is a children's or adult fantasy adventure set in a fictional world (Like middle earth from LOTR so to speak) and it will introduce everyone to Orion, the prince of Midras. He is young, cocky and quite the ladies man, he isn't your usual prince that dabbles in being noble, he's like you or me, fun to be around.

Here's a link to the blog where over the coming months you can witness Artwork drawn by a very experienced member here, who you all know quite well and when he sends me some stuff, you will all know who it is.

    Blog

The blog currently has two posts, the first is a one-page synopsis of the book itself, telling you in short, what the book has to offer.

I also have a youtube channel, which you will be able to watch the windows movie maker made trailer I put together using artwork from the web, don't worry, I'll be getting sony vegas soon to make better trailers. You can also listen to some of the tracks created for the book by JDRcomposer, he's extremely talented and has provided me with 10 or so tracks of which I'll be uploading soon. The first is up and it is very good.

    Youtube Channel

So, with that being said here's the first video with a soundtrack featured on my youtube channel.

I hope you join me for the journey, and thanks for reading.

I've added the first set of bios to the blog, and a teaser for the 1st prologue or prequel spin-off 'The Chronicles of Midras: The Fallen King' which will be released in March.

I've been talking to my agent, and the complete set of Prologues will be released in a stand-alone book that comes with the collector's edition of the first book, which also comes with an artbook and soundtrack.

Or at least that's the plan.

Yes it would, it'd be very sweet.

However it's a little early on at the moment and hasn't been published just yet, so until it gets released I can't say if it will get an adaptation or not, but it is certainly a possibility.

To me there seems to be alot of films that are based on books, and most books i know about eventually get turned into a film, it is possible ;D

There is that, Harry Potter, Narnia, Twilight and a possible Artemis Fowl in the future. However, when taking in what this book has, I have to say that the responsibility of making an adaptation will be rather big. This isn't a 1-part and done, this is a 6-part series that will span over the course of the next decade.

What did all of those films have in common? The books were already out by the time they started on the films, HP was up to the 4th by the 1st films release, Narnia was complete and Twilight had one book to go, so Orion, being that it isn't out yet, is going to take a while.

So if a movie company does decide to offer me a deal for a series, then they have to understand that it will take at least 10 years to get all of the films done, not to mention I am writing the first 3 which will come out in 2012,2013 and 2014 and then I'll take a 1 year break to write 'Precognition' and then the next ones will be out in 2016, 2018 and finally 2020.

Basically, it's a huge responsibility. And to boot, I don't even have the next book's plot in mind [It will be a direct sequel] and that could take me upwards of 8 months to think of.

I'm just stating a fact, it will be a hell of a project for anyone to take on, just ask the guys that took on Harry Potter, it took up their entire childhood and some of their adult life.

For now let's just focus on getting the book finished, printed and published first, lol.

    Book 1 is complete.

Finished it an hour ago, however it won't be published just yet as I am still waiting on Drakxxx for the artwork and my compositions to be finished.

No rush though, the publishers already have a packed year this year so it won't go into publishing or editing until October at the least.

Which gives me loads of free time to write the sequel, the 10-part short series and draft up some ideas for Precognition, yes that book is still happening, I just felt that the version I was working on needed more time to blossom.

I need to think of how I could tie in these 'Mind Powers' with the story better, Chris can see things before they happen, so should he be someone more important than a civilian? Maybe ex-soldier with trauma after his days on the frontline? Trying to return to life after the war, but unable to after horrifying visions of his days out there turn his mind against him.

I don't know, everything's up in the air at the moment. Tell me what you think about the idea of turning Chris into a former soldier, does it work?

As an avid reader of fantasy novels, you should know that when this book is published, I will be picking up a copy when it is released. Also, it's good to know that a member of this site can get published, as it proves that when you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

I will probably pick this one up. I'm not a HUGE fan of fantasy, but I do read it from time to time.

Thanks, and yeah it does prove when you put your mind to something for so long, and give so much, then you get given things back. I have proved everyone that said 'You can't do it' wrong, it's happening and it hasn't quite sunk in just yet.

It has many aspects, fantasy adventure is the most part, but it does have some comedy, a few dramatic moments, thrills, a few sad moments and a couple of horror sequences. It basically has everything, including a ton of action and intense moments.

Of course you can get to grips with the way I write and the idea of the story when I release 'The Fallen King' in March, it is the first of 10 prequels/prologues which will lead all the way up to the first book.
