The Relationships Thread of Discussing the Enigma that is Women

I've noticed something really strange over the years. If you were to take a sampling of all women, from all areas of life, all cultures, all hobbies, all personality types... at least 85% of the time, if I look at a woman or a girl and say "Wow, she is really attractive"... that girl happens to be a lesbian.

Let me clarify this. The traditional "sexy" personality, the traditional "hot" look, the "omg" body type that most men find attractive... I don't really care about it. You could put me in a room full of a models, and other than the social awkwardness I feel in every group, I would do nothing in terms of hitting on them, because I would very likely not be attracted to them.

On the other hand, if you were to take the qualities that I am attracted to in a girl, and collect those types of women, I would be willing to guess that the vast majority of them would be lesbians. It happens all the time on TV. I can hear a woman speaking, hear about her life, hear about her interests, see a variety of physical and stylistic traits that I find appealing, and think to myself "That is an incredibly interesting and attractive person." Later, I find out she swings for the other team.

It doesn't make any sense to me.

Just told the girl I like that I like her a lot. She said the feeling was mutual. Here's the catch: I am having the hardest time allowing myself to be happy about that. If any of you guys have seen me post here, you know I have a really bad past with a girl that lasted a few years. And I guess through her I've built up this subconscious thing that makes me automatically assume that whenever anything good happens between me and a girl, I'm gonna get disappointed and be stuck in the friend zone. Any ideas on how to make that go away? I really like this girl, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let one bitchy girl in my past come back to ruin things she's not even involved with. But man did she fuck me up...

I have no other advice to you besides:
It's all psychological.

Don't let your past experiences get in the way of what's happening now. The past experience was just that, a PAST experience. A DIFFERENT experience. Every experience is unique. It's great that you actually know that it's just your mindset that makes you feel scared (for lack of a better word) and that it isn't actually rational to be scared. Instead of saying it as fact, you know it's all psychological and that the past doesn't necessarily dictate the present. Just forget about everything before. If you know it's your mindset that has changed and that the reality of the situation hasn't, you're pretty much good to go. You'll be fine if you just chill and take it as something new. The past isn't real, only the memories are.

I was on omegle (with me setting thing to "writing"). I met someone and we started talking about writing, and he/she was very interesting. Turns out it was a girl, and turns out she lives in my state which was REALLY cool. Also turns out she was my age so that was cool. HOLY SHIT IT TURNS OUT SHE GOES TO MY HIGH SCHOOL. THIS IS CRAZY. OUT OF 25,000 PEOPLE THAT WERE ON OMEGLE THAT TIME (it was 4am). I'm shitting myself, because we linked eachother's facebooks AND HOLY FUCKING FUCK. She's exactly like me, and she's exactly what I look for in a girl. Funny, smart, cute, etc. OH FUCK. I'm seriously thinking I'm dreaming right now. She's into the SAME EXACT THINGS fuck.
