Last night, the girl I've been obsessed with for two years now... broke up with her boyfriend. She posted about it on Facebook only about an hour after I told her she could come to my classroom tomorrow and see the decorations we set up for the party we had today. She said that she would, and then later posted her Relationship status change.
When she came in today, I expected her to be sad. Distraught. Unhappy. But there was none of that. Other than some vague reddening around the eyes, she was happy. She came in, offered to help set up for the party, helped me finish drawing the letters for a banner I was making, and then out of the blue decided that she wanted to watch me teach my class today. A class, I must say, she has never been interested in seeing before. She has been in my room before, even seen the students in that class, but she has never stayed to watch me teach. She just suggested it, out of the blue. She kept hanging around without saying much, but still very close to me, and in the end, when I went to go get my students out of the other room, she came with me, and said that she wanted to watch me teach.
So that's what she did. Even during the party, she hang around, right by my side, the entire time. She walked around a bit, but for the most part she stayed right next to me. Before class started she was putting her hand on my shoulder and patting my on the back, and after class she did the same thing. She never once mentioned anything about her break-up. In fact, In all the time I've known her, she has only mentioned her boyfriend twice. But she seemed perfectly happy about it, and spent the entire morning after it happened observing me teach.
And get this... she's a Prom dance chaperone. That means she has to go. Apparently her students were driving her crazy about who she would go with, so she finally told them she would go with her boyfriend, just to shut them up. But now that's not an option. I'm almost 85% sure now that if she goes, she will ask me to go with her. I never went to my own prom, but I would cut off my own sack to go to prom with this girl.
She's amazing... like God's gift to humankind. She's honestly the single most amazing person I've ever met. I love her in every facet of the definition of the word. And maybe... just maybe... there's a chance we could get together now.
Thoughts on why she came to observe me this morning? What do you think?
