Like the black hair with white highlights. You hate it ' cause Dante is supposed to have white hair. OKAY, but you don't know the reason behind the black hair and you don't know if that guy will somehow turn into the old Dante. It could even be his son or whatever. The hate got a real weak base up to this point, and that's why it's stupid, but you are free to hate it. That's my point!

And for the record: The haterz seem to be the ones not accepting other thoughts and speculations and just make fun about it. It's "this game will suck" for them - nothing more and nothing less. That's a narrow mind if you ask me, because even the way overdone DMC3 Dante and also Nero grew on the fans after they played the games. I am well aware there's the opposite as well, like Raiden, however now he's cool for everyone since he got a bloody game - UGH. Again: Time will tell and time will give us the base for real hate or love!
You're telling me that disliking this new Dante is without justification.

Who cares whether or not I hate or do not hate the new Dante?
That's the question, you're not letting this go. Whether or not there is not, or is enough evidence to give me a reason to dislike it, the fact is, there isn't enough anything to prove or disprove it.

I, do not like the way Dante looks, accept it.

Why can't I just not like him? Does me liking or disliking this character have anything to do with you at all? You're bawling over insignificant opinions from others.

You don't get it... And you are free to dislike him, I just don't see a solid base on your statements, because NOTHING was confirmed right now and the haters are mostly talking like they know everything about the game, its story and gameplay.

    DMC fans are upset, why?

If you don't like the new direction of the reboot then don't play it. It's just that easy. Think of the game as a parallel universe version of Dante and his adventures. And from what I heard they are taking the best things (story lines? Gameplay? Characters?) from the other games and adding in new things. So this game can go either way. And again, it's just a video game not the end of the world lol

Because what they are fans of isn't this (even if there isn't much shown yet) or the company they are outsourcing it to. Instead of getting a true DMC 5 we are getting an relatively unnecessary "reboot". Saying don't play it is just a lame excuse, and for fans it's not that easy. Just looking at the disasters that is Silent Hill Origins/Homecoming and how they screw up the continuity of the REAL games. They are mere fanfiction in comparison.

Put your favorite game franchise in the place of Devil May Cry. Would you still be okay with it after seeing such a departure from this thing that you know and love?

I'm actually calmed down about this now, waiting for more info, but my initial reaction was really rather angry and feeling betrayed by Capcom in a sense.

I just wanted to throw that hypothetical your way.

It already has happened to me since I'm a huge fan of both Resident Evil and Silent Hill and they decided to change the games up with RE4 and Silent Hill Homecoming (Shattered Memories is a better example) and while it took me a while to get use to them I did. I mean they were still part of a series I loved and didn't mind playing them and I wanted to go old school I would play the old ones. And considering the new DmC isn't even part of the canon of the main series it shouldn't really bother the fans that much. I mean they could still make a DMC 5 one day.

As long as it's an improvement in gameplay, As it was with Resident Evil 4, I will be perfectly fine. I'm really hoping that Ninja Theory will get a good formula for the gameplay, and that the story will be interesting. I want this to be a success. But given the direction of their proof of concept, I can't say whether it will succeed. As I've said before, only time will tell.

One of the problems is, unless it's a dreadful disaster, Capcom will have no reason to go back to the old canon. That makes me sad. Capcom isn't one to step backward unless it's a port to a portable system.

It's hard to make a real judgment based on what we've seen in the trailer, but I'm not really a fan of the general premise. Dante in a mental institution, being manipulated by scientists (?)... I don't know, man. I wanna see more, so I can find out if it's what I want from a DMC game.

People, don't forget one of the goals behind a game/movie, whatever... EARNING MONEY! They sure can continue on making the series the same over and over again, but it's just logical to try to get non-fans interested too. Not to mention there's always at least one very weak game in a series.

And as I said earlier: Better than some copy-cat as nero.

Of course, anyone who can't realize this fact just isn't looking at things realistically.

They said they gave the game a makeover to appeal to Western audiences and in turn, make more money. Well it sure as hell isn't appealing to many people. I'm not happy about the change, but I'm willing to give the game a chance in hope that the gameplay will be good. But they ought to realise that no matter what you do to it, hack n' slashers will never be as commercially successful as shooters or RPGs. What's the best-selling hack n' slash franchise? God of War? That series has sold some 10 million over the last half-decade, which ain't bad at all (considering that the DMC series has sold roughly the same (probably a bit less) over twice that time), but were it not for the fucking incredible gameplay and production value (the latter of which DMC will most likely never have) it wouldn't have sold well at all.

The thing is, it's not the gameplay Ninja Theory are relying on for the game to sell. If they were doing that, then there would've been no need to change Dante. Obviously they changed the character design (and from the looks of things, the setting) in an attempt to have the game sell better. I say they're gonna have a hell of a hard time doing that, and the game needs to be of God of War-quality or above for it to even DREAM of selling 5 million.

So I just read that Capcom made a statement to all the negative comments from the trailer saying that's its not really a reboot but just a alternate version of DMC and will not mess up the established canon in the main series. So from them saying that I would like to think that they will make a DMC5 one day considering they still have the main series in mind

Just think of it as Megaman and Megaman X, same name, different guy, different series. Or how there is a different Ryu in every Breath of Fire game.

that's not what I said, but it's true... a lot of people cannot look at it from a realistic point of view.

Well... problem is: Megaman and X (as well as Ryu and Ryu) don't look as different as Dante and "Dante". People freak out ' cause he got black hair, is smoking and wears a different cloak.

Megaman can get a bit tricky though, 'cause some games don't feature "the" megaman.

Just why would that be eww? It does some pretty impressive stuff, especially with environments. There are tons of games that run on Unreal tech. That's a plus in my book.
