    Default Render Light?

I was just wondering how you would do this. I have seen a lot of great renders where there is a light, and the light is still partly transparent, but only the light is there, not the background. How would one go about doing that?

Background Eraser on Photoshop. Renders hair and other partially transparent stuff like a charm.
