Thread: Pokemon 2

    Smile Pokemon 2

    VIEW BOX ART

Hi, this is my first time using the Critiques forum before posting a box. Today, I have a box called, "Pokemon 2." That's right: Pokemon 2. What if Pokemon Gold/Silver was just one game, and it was called Pokemon 2? What if it was much darker and cooler, and rated T? Wouldn't that be cool? That's what I thought. By the way, this is not a DS box, it's a Gameboy Color one, and the first one in a while, I believe! Some things to note:

    **************

*The front is inspired by StarMario22's HeartGold box, however I think there's a substantial amount of differences

*The template is by roza, but I updated it by outlining the bar code, making the Game Boy Color border better, and adding the esrb rating and Nintendo logo on the front

*The original back of Pokemon Gold did not have esrb on it, click here to see for yourself

    **************

Enjoy, and please tell me what you think!

Why does the seal cover one of the screenshots?

    I see only two flaws

    1. whys would it be rated "T for Teen" its pokemon, a childs game its not that cool.

    2. Whys would it be called pokemon 2 ( even though the logos good) why not just
call it pokemon gold like you said.

The ESRB can be changed, so its not that important. I actually love the "Pokemon 2" logo. It has something I like in it, but thats not my opinion.

1: I said, "What if it was much darker and cooler, and rated T?" Key word: If. I'm not saying it is, I'm saying what it could have been.

    2: Again, what if.

I think we get the what if part. It's just a stupid idea.

Dude, what the hell? What the hell did I ever do to you? In fact, I even favorited one of your boxes. My mistake. Jerk.

The back seems really text heavy. and the blue realistic clouds in the front seem out of place to me.

I like the trail from the Ho-Oh in the front though.

Additionally, why are some words not capitalized in the tagline on the back? (Its a quick fix, but something to think about)

Why are you freaking out? I just said the idea was dumb.

YoshiStar, beardedwalrus, and rpgfreak, I don't mind if you rate my box very low, but please say why you are doing so.

Over reaction. Jeeze, favorites should have nothing to do with yuor feeling towards another artist. Also he just stated an opinion.

WHY is the community being so harsh on newbies lately? There are few NATURALLY good boxartists. This guy certainly has POTENTIAL. Most new guys can't do reflections or the effect with Ho-oh.

I like the idea, but a darker box demands darker aesthetic changes. For exanple, find a way of putting a darker sky, and find a picture of ho-oh used on a trading card. They often have dark pictures on them.

I will rate after I see what you do with that suggestion.

The logo is pretty bad. What is Pokemon 2? all Pokemon games are a color or a gem. Get rid of the reflection and get a real picture of the Pokemon. Don't use weird effects and colorful text as a description and don't make it so large either. Find a way to much the screen shots seem like a design not just thrown on there.

Lmao. Get over yourself. Your box is pretty damn bad, and he expressed that. Fair enough, maybe he did so in the wrong way, but he took him time to come into the thread and tell you what he thought. Respect that.

TRANSLATION: I don't actually care, I'm just looking to be the guy who believes contrary to others, the guy who is different and has slightly controversial opinions. Maybe this will get a few bandwagoner's for me.

Ahhh, a bandwagonner already. Can you feel the start of a NEW REVOLUTION?

JBone, or w/e your name is, if there seriously are members here who can't do the techniques shown off in this art work, god help there supposed, "bright futures."

K, now I'll post what I think of the bocz: Bad. A golden silhouette of Ho-oh on a real life sky background.... why would anyone on this board think that looks good? On StarMario's box, I thought it looked just as badly executed here. Box's don't do that style for a reason; it looks so god damn plane. It screams, "I'm too scared to go for a regular, brash box style."

The back is much the same, some text and a few evenly spaced out screenshots won't cut it. A low, 4/10.

(He awaits the hate. "HAI MAN U A NOOB, U DONT THROW UR WEIGHT ROUND!"

So what if people can't do certain techniques or don't have great art? There's a reason for the word improvement. It's because improvement EXISTS.

Honestly, your first box was pretty bad (Don't think you didn't see this coming. When you act like a narrow-minded ass its bound to happen). If I were to judge you and say your skill level will always remain at that level, I'd deem you as horrible and not pay much attention to you.

Judging from MrSaturn's post, he seems like a far more mature person than you. He has an idea which he hasn't implemented in the best way, but when someone just calls it 'stupid' without any explanation, why shouldn't he get angry?

Your first box showed some potential, so despite hating you, I'm going to try to be more open-minded and regularly critique your boxes in the RIGHT way.

I'm sure there is some constructive criticism to be had underneath all this hostility, but I doubt it's worth looking for. The next time you decide to get up on your soapbox, please think twice about it. Attacking a new member for legitimately showing interest, and posting their work in the forums is probably one of the lamest things you can do around here.

Lol, I knew this time would come. If I really do become a regular on the site, you're going to be seeing a lot more of my posts like that. I'm not going to stop etching out my, often badly portages (I do admit), opinions around the site, because it's frowned upon by the "veterans".

Will this hurt my chances at getting a good collab partner? Yeah. Will this hurt my chances at becoming a popular member of VGBA? Yeah. But that's something I have to deal with on the majority of sites I go to.

And seriously, I'm not a bad guy like you may be thinking right now. I'm a pretty good guy, but I AM direct and I AM bold in what I do. This often dents people's opinions of me.

And now I will just sit back and watch all my hopes of doing anything great on this site wash away, because of bad first impressions... again.
