Regarding retaliation/unfair votes

Users caught making retaliation/unfair votes will find their voting history cleared and may be banned as well.

This means unfairly voting on someone's boxes (like giving them a 1 when they clearly don't deserve it) simply because you don't like them or want to disrupt their rating. This also includes vote inflation, like giving all high scores to your friend's boxes.

I check the voting logs regularly for this type of activity and it's fairly easy to spot. So, if you're doing this, don't be too surprised to see your votes disappear and find yourself banned. A number of folks have already had their voting histories deleted.

Basically, don't be a jerk, and you'll be fine.

For those that suspect your box has been unfairly voted on, please post a reply here with a link to your box and I'll investigate.

I think my Mr. Bones box should be cleared,after all I got the worst of ratings and it wasn't that bad and it was one of my first shots at making a box and also one or two who rated it withdrew their ratings after I explained it a little more.

Also Someone voted an 2 on my lastest SSBB cover (the one that not 3D), and I think it's atleast an 3 Cover.

Nope, going to leave it alone. Their voting history is pretty kosher. In fact, they've given at least one of your other boxes a 5. So they apparently just felt that this one was worth a 2.

Well, your Franz one was given two 1s. And the PGRT was given two 2s. No 1s there.

The Strangehold one, well, someone was pretty harsh. But it looks like it was simply their opinion, and not a vote made simply to tarnish the rating. They are rather borderline though, so it may not stick around...

Two people gave it a 4, and one gave it a 3. Which is harsh for that box IMO, but it looks to me like it's just their opinion and not based on retaliation or being a jerk.

Hello Reed - Is there a way for you to implement a system where a user is required to post in the comments when they give a boxart a rating?

The reason i ask is because i've noticed lately that boxes (my FFXII box comes to mind - http://www.vgboxart.com/view/3900/fi...ii/?replies=12) have been rated a 3 or less without any explination given. I think if someone rates a box, regardless of the score, comments should be left. That way the box artist can see what people didn't like and try to improve on it instead of being left in the dark on what was or wasn't liked.

I agree with Gunslinger as well, I enjoy reading my comments to see whats the matter with it, and what they like about it. It could be bad or good, i just want to know what peoples reaction is to my art.

this is like a "win-lose' situation. We all want to know what people think of our box, hence the forcing of posting a comment. but let's say your in a rush, and you see a box that changed your life forever or something, you don't have time to comment, so you give it a 5 and move on.

Not really, the ability for people to vote an informing rating of a typical opinion who without the time to leave comments appears to 'outweigh' the few trolls who abuse it.
