Really? Outside of Revelation's parade of awfulness, the main thing I've always disliked about the AC series is that I never felt like an assassin, in the original or otherwise. The lack of any stealth mechanics whatsoever always seemed like a nonsensical exclusion. To think that most assassinations ended with Altair having to run away from mobs of guards makes him out to be a pretty terrible assassin, to be honest.

That's a pretty good point, but I was more referring to learning everything about your target (repetitive as it might be), developing a plan, and then assassinating him. Most of Ezio's assassinations have his allies telling him everything he needs to know.

I see. I suppose in that sense, I'll agree. It probably could have been better executed though.

    Max Payne 3

This was a last-minute buy for me, I didn't pre-order it and I really wasn't interested in it to a point in which I was just like meh, boring and that was how I felt about the game when it was announced. Then I saw a gameplay trailer, and was from that point a fan of the game and I bought it for quite a cheap price of £29.99 (my friend works at Sainsburys and gets £10 off).

+ Shootdodge/bullet time: Never before have I experienced anything like this, apart from Sniper Elite V2's slow-motion bullet time kill-shots. It was a fantastic idea, and some of the crazy set pieces had me thinking that I have been missing out on the previous 2 iterations of the series. It's a great mechanic, fantastic to perform though at times I felt as if it were getting a little repetetive doing the same dodge move to dodge bullets. Then after about 3 hours I decided to check the controls and found out that double-tapping A makes you roll. Probably should've looked at the manual earlier, lol.

+ Story: An action packed story combined with Max's sardonic attitude (it means grim way of looking at things) I was impressively amazed by the narrative. Though I would've liked it if there weren't so many flashback sequences, one would suffice. It was a great story, one easily made by the excellent dialogue between characters, the twists, backstabbing and reveals that captivated the story were also a great addition and the character models were really well detailed.

+ Gameplay: The strongest point of Max Payne 3 is the gameplay. Sure it's linear, but it at least gives you multiple options as to how you play the game. Go all out guns blazing, tossing grenades across the screen and blowing the enemies away with high powered shotguns. Play the game with slow-mo 99% of the time, utilizing impressive airborne techiniques to take down waves of foes at a single point in time without getting shot six ways from sunday. Or use cover, which is the most boring of the bunch considering you're taking away the danger aspect that comes with this frantic and off-the-wall game.

+ Multiplayer: Never have I rated a game on multiplayer, as I despise multiplayer. However, after using a 1 month gold pass that came with my brand new 250gb 360 S I decided to give it a go. It's outstanding, the gameplay is fast and hectic, your average lifespan (unless you're a camping sniper) is around 36 seconds and everyone is out to prove themselves in fast-paced adrenaline pumping gameplay which you can get a streak going in kills, or a death-streak in being killed five times in a row by the same person because you SPAWNED RIGHT NEXT TO HIM EACH TIME.

I had a few issues with the multiplayer, such as a map in Fabricas Branco's facility where some asshole decided to call me a "camping bitch" because I was taking cover trying to avoid getting shot so I could regain my health. Since when is taking cover camping? It's called hiding to avoid being seen. Camping is when someone takes a spot on the map and snipes people from far away.

    ---------------

All in all I had some fun with this game, both online and offline during the campaign mode. It's an impressive 9 hour campaign (for someone that is new to the series) and can probably be beaten quicker depending on how good you are at said game. Then there's countless hours of multiplayer there for you to enjoy, be prepared to get your ass handed to you for the first few matches though, here's a tip - play the rookie matches first - but as said, it's a fun game with multiple hours of multiplayer content (I counted 19 hours in total).

    Verdict:

Max Payne 3 is a pill-popping third person bullet-time fuel ride that goes full throttle to the end and keeps you playing long after the lengthy credits roll.

Great review and a fair score (unlike some reviews from gaming websites) a 9 or even higher is just to much imo.

I still must continue the main story campaign myself, I'm already half way through, playing on medium and already,
have died like 20 times I can't even think about playing it on higher difficulties and I'm not even mentioning,
    the multiplayer.

I think I kinda suck at it, but I'm still enyoing the game

I really like that quote! it describes the game just perfect, in just one sentence.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City 7/10 (So far)
Fuck me this game is ruthless on Offline.
So fare I've had very little issues with this game. True the graphics in gameplay are a little dated and the balancing can be a bit unfair at times. Especially when your team is all dead, there's 5 Hunters on your ass and to top it off, the Government Forces are shooting from every damn way. But ignore that fact it's a Resident Evil and it's a damn fun game, challenging and still entertaining. But play alone and prepare to see "You Are Dead" a hell of a lot. The weapons do seem a little... undamaging at times, especially when you spray a whole 7 clips into Tyrant's Face, only to have him still standing, but despite reviewers words, the game is a blast.

    Heavy Rain - 4.5/5
Really, really liked it. Thoroughly enjoyed the story, the twist felt kind of strange and random, but it really wasn't too bad. Ended in a satisfying way (at least the way I finished it: *Jayden, Madison, Lauren, and Ethan alive* *All trials completed* *Jayden detoxed*).
Gameplay was pretty different and unique. Voice acting varied from pretty good to awkwardly bad. Music was forgettable. Overall good game.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (PS2 Version).

It was... decent. The graphics were fuck-awful. I think they used about half of the PS2's potential with the graphics. The gameplay was pretty average. I say that mostly because it was just way too easy. There are literally big arrows pointing at things to click on. And all keys are within eyesight of the door they unlock.

This scenario happens all throughout the game:

    Find locked door
Get excited cause it's time to find a key
    Turn around
Arrow pointing right at the key
    Well that was disappointing.

What saved it was the psychological aspects. Those were super cool. The game is constantly taking notes about how you as a player interact with the environment, and tweaks the game accordingly. And of course, like all Silent Hill games, there are several different endings. This all does a pretty good job at extending replay value, but it still doesn't make up for how ridiculously short the game is (I beat it in about 4 hours).

    I'd give it a 7.5/10.

    Binary Domain (PC)
Yes. I know. People have said it is a bad console port. To be honest, I don't see it. The game is perfectly functional (I glitched out of the world once), and the only major issue I've had with the game is I lost 3 hours of gameplay because of UAC not letting it save. On Steam :/

    - The game is simply amazing. It is a third-person shooter that is simple to grasp, and relatively easy to master. The mix of weapons given makes for a diverse experience where you can approach each battle in a unique way to you.

    - The game sets itself in futuristic Japan, in a world where robots are common. The concept isn't particularly new, but what is completely overused is that the robots are hostile. However, they are given lots of backstory and therefore isn't that bad. There are 6 main characters (I think, haven't completed the game yet, but do not expect any more to join), the good old fashioned Ex-Special Forces man with an Assault Rifle, Bulky American with an LMG, but with twists, like a ex-MI6 agent with a SMG. English soldier with a shotgun and Chinese Sniper. To mix things up a bit, [SPOILERS] there's also a French robot with a machine pistol. [/SPOILERS] With 5 characters to potentially choose for your team, you cannot go wrong, as each character can fend for themselves (Perhaps not Faye for close range combat, but she works well still in your team).

    - The story of the game, in my honest opinion, is outstanding. It makes sense, is amusing at parts, and serious in others, making for an enjoyable balance. Occasionally the bosses entrances seem really contrived, but they redeem themselves in the battles. The boss battles are always fun, although they often use the rocket launcher to destroy limbs, I enjoy them still (Although I do enjoy watching them crumble).

    - What isn't so easy to handle is the wonderful trust system. It gives a real depth to the game and adds tonnes of replay value. What I really enjoyed was the pat on the back I got every time I did something good. If there is one fault there, my team (Always Big Bo and Faye) always give me good feedback every half minute which can get annoying after a while. I appreciated the developers giving me a way to express my opinions in the voice command options. Sadly though, it does not like my voice and so I was 'forced' to use the keyboard controls, which worked well in my opinion. I hardly command my team though, they usually have the same idea as me (Or I just follow them, being the sheep I am)

    - The graphics are phenomenal for the game. Although they may not match up with the CryEngine iterations or Frostbite 2, they look realistic enough without the un-needed blurs and flares that modern games seem to think look realistic. As I do not have enough money, I am lumped with an Intel HD 3000 chipset on a laptop. It works perfectly on low settings, which still look as amazing as the high settings on a smaller monitor. The game is presented in a crisp modern environments, even though those may not be typical, it works.

    - I think I will have to reserve a special place in my gaming life for this game. It honestly blows all the other games I have played to bits. I think I can put aside Final Fantasy games for a long time while I finish this game (Up to Chapter 4 at the moment)

Well I played through the Mass Effect 3 campaign again...it's kind of a mess. :/ Ending aside it's a bit of a disaster. After the OH MY GOD NEW MASS EFFECT GAME feeling wears off you can see the flaws clearer. I think the multiplayer is the only part I've genuinely enjoyed.

At least Mass Effect 2 is still fun.

This is true for a lot of games you're hyped for before release.

    Killing Floor - 5/5
Yeah, I gave it a perfect score. It's not a perfect game, and it doesn't have the best online community. It's not very polished (that's for sure), but I have gotten so much fun and entertainment out of this game. And the yearly summer/halloween/christmas events make it even more fun. I totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys shooting things with friends.

    Torchlight - 8/10

This game is tons of fun. The controls can be a bit frustrating at some times, like when I go to examine something, I can't turn around. And the lack of Co-Op/Multiplayer. If this game had multiplayer, It would be near perfect in my opinion. Another bad thing is the fact that it's pretty easy, even on the harder settings.

The game is a lot of fun, nonetheless. Well worth the money.

    Lollipop Chainsaw (PS3)
Holy fuck is this game good. I'm not one for hack'n'slashers, but something about this I just love. It has great comedy and music. And it is damn funny at points, even insulting itself in the process. Seeing as the game sold for £30 and had very little media pull I was weary about it, but I preordered anyway. And I'm damn glad I did. I haven't finished it yet, but what I have done is some of the best gaming I've ever done. I'll admit, some parts are annoying (Zombie Baseball for one), and the bosses do get a bit too predictable (kill, finish, not dead. Kill, finish, not dead. Kill, finish, FUCK YEAH!)
I really would suggest picking this game up.
Zombies, Metal, Cheerleaders, Chainsaws, Tara Strong and Suda51. Need I say more?

    Dragonball Z: Infinite World 3.5/10

Absolutely terrible game. It's easily the worst Dragonball Z game. The story mode is the worst. You have to go through rings or do some other type of preliminary mission before some of the battles. What the fuck is the point of that, why not just follow the formula of the Budokai series that had so much success? I understand, they wanted to try something different. Budokai has been rehashed so many times, maybe some people found it old. But they added things that seemed ridiculously similar to, dare I say it, Superman 64. If a game does that, that alone should merit a 3 or lower score. The battle system went from being easy and fun, to complicated and confusing. Honestly, if they just stuck with a complete DBZ and GT storyline with new characters and maybe just a new battle mode, I would have gladly spent 10-20 dollars on it. Instead, they tried to take something good and make it better, and they totally failed. The only reason that this game doesnt get a 1 is that I've always loved the art direction and graphics for DBZ games, and fore a PS2 game, the game looks good. Not great, good.

    Nuff' said.

    Lollipop Chainsaw

At first the combat to me was a little stiff, I wasn't able to chain certain attacks together, but once I started to upgrade and get new combos it fleshed out a bit until the end.

This is a game with a lot of jokes, witty and sometimes ditzy dialogue, and takes a bit of inspiration from B-movies and stereotypes, all in a joking fashion. This game is a colorful comicbook, with very creative artstyles and music. The visuals overall kind of take the show, the game also has a lot of playful minigames. The story is a bit off, but I would recommend a rent if you're into hack and slashers even slightly.

    Bastion

This comes off more as the developer wanting to express their artistic creativity rather than an engaging gameplay experience, because in that regard it's relatively lacking. Combat is simple and straightforward and, in spite of the large array of weapons and upgrades available, tends to lack variety and quickly becomes repetitive. If it weren't for the game's stellar presentation, I doubt I'd have had enough interest in either the gameplay or story to press onward. It's beautifully crafted, the soundtrack boasting some pretty great songs (although a few are replayed more often than I'd like), and the aesthetic style of the graphics deserves all the praise it gets.

Aesthetically, the game is nearly flawless, However, overall, I was left fairly unimpressed by the aspects of a game that should take precedence. That is to say, gameplay and the overall enjoyment I had while playing.

    Tales of Graces f

This is the kind of game I've been needing more of this generation. A JRPG that, while largely plays it safe, has all the charm and entertainment I remember from the PS2 era. The PS3 has been somewhat lacking in this department, and Graces fills the void perfectly. The story is by no means amazing, the characters aren't incredibly deep and complex, but by god it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Combat is fast-paced and frequently chaotic, but the CC gauge adds a level of strategy and combo-building that's a necessity in order to survive on anything beyond the lowest difficulties. It's really quite satisfying, pulling together the various blocks, dodges and attacks in order to exploit weaknesses and maintain a solid combo. Outside the battlefield, the merits of any traditional JRPG shine through. It's one of those games in which I genuinely want to explore every corner of every room, finding everything from hidden treasures to various side quests.

The story is fairly straightforward and lacking in any great complexities or revelations. The message of FRIENDSHIP YAAY is hit rather painfully hard towards the story's conclusion but it's not enough to dismiss any real enjoyment had over the course of the game. In fact, a number of the characters are really quite likable, supported by some really solid dialog in the various skits and post-battle conversations (the future arc is genuinely hilarious at times). That said, the main character plays the good guy trope fairly straight, to the point of irritation.

GamesRadar put it best: "Graces is like an old JRPG friend that's back to reclaim its place in your life. Your friend hasn't really changed all that much, but you also remember the fun you had together, and slowly, you realize how much you want them back in your life. And that's exactly where Graces succeeds; it captures so much of the magic and charm of classic JRPGs." Enough said.

    Shadows of the Damned

This game is very broken, if you're impatient I don't recommend this one. My patience allowed me to get through the game, but man, some parts are very unbearable. It's a third person shooter with a bit of a Resident Evil 5 feel, but you can walk while shooting and the movement is less stiff. You can upgrade things like ammo capacity and reload speed. I didn't upgrade the reload speed at all, so further on in the game, the bosses get very frustrating. The artstyle kind of reminds me of Dante's Inferno. The premise is that you have to deactivate the darkness in the world and rescue your girlfriend. Sometimes you'll miss when you actually didn't, some of the mini games are not well thought out and nerve-racking. Rent it all means.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest - 5/10

It's essentially Star Wars Battlefront in the LOTR world, and it's surprisingly good! It's not really as bad as people say. The voice acting is pretty terrible, and they butcher many of the Tolkien words, but Howard Shore's fantastic score is there to make up for it. The combat system isn't too bad, and is pretty varied if you switch up classes every now and then. It's a shame EA took down the online servers.

One of my gripes is the style of the Rogue class. Far too ninja like to make sense in Tolkien's world. They just don't fit in. The story is also altered a bit, and it's irritating. (i.e. legions of human troops in Moria, Sauron alive in the Shire, etc.)

    Overall, an average game.
