Thread: WIP - Guitar Hero (Joe Satriani)

  1. #1

Default WIP - Guitar Hero (Joe Satriani)

Please don't ask who Joe Satriani is. Go to youtube and listen to some of his songs. Virtuoso guitarist Satriani should have his own Guitar Hero game, he basically is the "Guitar Hero". It's probably because he isn't mainstream. I saw someone already did one, but I didn't like it. I am thinking of doing an entire bundle complete with custom guitar. PLEASE, let me know what you think so far. I had a terrible time with the font for "Joe Satriani" and making it look grungy enough. I think the cool blue is nice, but I almost feel like it needs more color. Feedback is appreciated, I will continue to work away on this idea.

    Thanks for looking!

Well, the Guitar Hero logo is quite stretched. Other than that, it's good.

Yeah, the GH logo is squished, but other than that, great work. I think experimenting with the Gh logo would be nice too, add some grunge, maybe a blue tint?

I think the full out blue color scheme worked a lot better.

I would love it if they made this game! Agreed about the colors, go back to the previous blue one.

Other than that this looks incredible.

Hey guys, wanted to get some feedback on the back and the different colors, I like the brown because it ties into the screenshots. What do you guys think thus far? The back was inspired by DJ Hero.

Links to full versions are under each one.

Looks very official, I'd go with the first one.

Can you guys please explain why you like the blue by itself? I don't understand why everyone wants the blue. It is important in design to have contrast and complimentary colors. It's something I have learned and used in my professional career, but you guys are so stubborn, lol. My friends all like the second one with the contrasting brown/orange, as do I, but eveyone on this site likes the blue only. Why is that?

Here is a good article that solidifies my point, real life examples of the orange/blue contrast that I am trying to implement. You will even see that Mass Effect and Too Human are amongst the perpetrators.

Now that I've established my case for why I would choose number 2 and why I think it is better overall, please let me know why you like or would choose number 1....

I think that it needs color conrtast like you said, but I don't think it's well balanced, try coloring the logo the grungy color mostly.

    Other than that.. ASTOUNDING.

I think I will leave the GH logo the way it is, since it's unmodified on all their releases. I am going to play with the "Joe Satriani" text and try to balance out the color, I might change the hue a little bit more. I have more work to do.....but thanks.

What do you guys think of the back....solid?

Number 1 is the overall best becuase, yes, contrasting colors is good. But consistensy is more effective than contrasting colors, and the consistency of blue on the number 1 is great and makes the box great. But it's your art, and as the artist, if you feel that number 2 is better, go with number 2.

The box is looking great so far, a main tagline for the back would be nice.

I agree with Afifan, I personally like the first one the best. And amazing job on the back, very official looking.
