We need more general movie/television threads.
I recently watched FLCL again, which is something of a tradition. I still adore it.

Agreed...technically Skyler is the "good" guy in the show, but because of how brilliantly written it is we seem to identify with the criminal meth cook rather than his confused wife. I just read the greatest spoiler for Season 5, can't wait to see how it plays out now![]()
bless you with this DOPE
The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly - 5/5
Honestly one of the best I've ever seen. I like it slightly more than For a Few Dollars More, which I liked slightly more than A Fistful of Dollars. However, all three films are great. I think Lee Van Cleef is better as a villain, and both the characters of Blondie and Tuco were entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
The Dark Knight Rises
I saw this film a week ago, and for the past week, I have been trying to write a decent review for this film. I cannot do it. I cannot write a long-winded, detailed review for this film, because it was so great. Yes, I saw the flaws that people mentioned, but they didn't get to me as much as they have gotten to the others. I went into this film with fairly average expectations, and I was definitely blown away. The Dark Knight Rises gets a 10/10.
Right now I'm watching the third season of Breaking Bad, the first seasons of The Killing, Mad Men, and Hell on Wheels, and I've started to re-watch The Walking Dead before I watch the second season. In short, AMC is the shit.
The Big Lebowski - 9.5/10
Holy shit, what a good ass movie. I highly suggest watching it more than once to understand the true meaning.
That 70's Show : Complete Series - 7/10
I've already seen the complete series when I was younger, but I decided to rewatch it. The show is great because it's not clever, intelligent, and it doesn't try to be. I love sitcoms like this with straight to the point dull humor. Also the show has a very original setting, so hat's off to that.
Diff'rent Strokes : Complete Series - 7.5/10
Finally finished this show. Again, I have a thing for humor, and this show gets the cake with it. This show is basically the essence of what sitcoms are about during that time.
Australia | 8.2/10
Good and touching story but the movie was a bit too long (2.5h).
Total Recall 7/10
Let's start by saying that i haven't seen the original, as i didn't want to compare it with the remake during my first viewing. The story isn't all that's its cracked up to be, whilst it's interesting it's execution and inconsistencies stop it from creating a coherent plot-line for the viewers. it's not extremely bad, but not extremely good. I'd say it's a bit below average. I almost always prefer the story and acting above the visuals and action, but Total Recall deserves an extra point on that one as it does provide amazing action and visuals. Of course those don't make a movie, but the levels on this one were pretty high so i gave an extra point to the feature. It's not worthy multiple viewings, maybe 1 in theaters and one on DVD/Blu when it comes out, but it's a reasonably fun two hours if you have nothing to do.
Oh my god that new Breaking Bad episode.
OH MY FUCKING GOD
10/10 - One of my favorite episodes all time, that ending had me on the edge like fucking crazyyyy
28 Days Later-4/10
Can someone tell me why this movie is so acclaimed? I was really let down considering the hype surrounding this movie and it being amazing and things. First off, the film was shot on consumer cameras so the film in general looks like arse. I understand they were on a low budget, but it was really off putting to me. They shot the last 5 or so minutes on high quality cameras, why not the whole movie? Secondly, I don't know if it was just my copy or the ipod I was watching it on or what but the sound also sounded off to me. Some of the speech was quiet so I had to turn the volume up then there would be some yelling or a jump scare and it would be really fucking loud, then go back to being quiet in the next scene. Next, there was the way it was shot and edited. All the action was filmed far to close up and shakey to a point where I couldn't tell what was happening. I also felt the ending was kinda shit too as it doesn't tell you who saves them, where they go, ect... which I think would have added to the film however I haven't seen the sequel yet, and I am assumed it is answered in that. Some of the acting felt a little bit off sometimes too but it was overall okay. The next thing I want to address is I didn't know what was happening in the last 45 minutes, I had to look it up on wikipedia. I don't know if it was because it was 1:30am or if it was the audio but I didn't know why they tried to escape the camp until I read it on wikipedia. If it isn't just me, that's pretty bad. I did like some aspects of it though, some of the scare were nicely set up and the empty shots of London were pretty eerie and I really like Jim's character but overall, it was just very lacking and I am very disappointed by it.
The Bourne Legacy
Spoilers below.
"Why does this film exist?", I was thinking to myself, in the theater, during a particularly uneventful sequence of Jeremy Renner complaining about his "chems" and Edward Norton grimacing at people. This is one of the major issues with this film; it's tedious. Where the original Bourne trilogy was able to supplement its action with character interaction and plot intrigue, Legacy tends to drag on without much to say.
A deeper reasoning for this could be that the characters themselves are not very interesting. Amnesia may be a cliche, but it helped establish Bourne; it give us a reason to sympathize with him and watch with curiosity as he uncovers his past. On top of not being particularly likable to begin with, Aaron Cross is reduced to a man dependent on super-soldier drugs in order to run with the best of them. In fact, during the same time Jason Bourne's much more interesting story in Ultimatum is coming to a close, the entire plot of this film revolves around Cross procuring more "chems" so as not to lose the only defining aspects of his character and be reduced to a drooling idiot.
As sluggish it is for the first three quarters of this long film, things do tend to pick up in the climax, with a lengthy action scene on par with what the Bourne series is known for. It's only frustrating to think that so much of what happens is otherwise of little consequence or interest. Norton and his crew sit around in an office scowling and doing little else, while Renner proceeds to ignore them both during and after his search for his meds.
It's a shame, really. I like Matt Damon's Bourne films, and was hoping this could live up to the name. Rather, it would have been better off not existing in the first place.
