I'm with you on the hi-res thingy. I consider hi-res to be much bigger than 1600x800. Take for example my Halo Reach logo replication. While it isn't a custom job, it was made by hand to replicate the original, but is much larger than I could find on the web. Yes, I think 6400x2700 px is hi-res. Aside from adding gradients to attempt to match the official logo, there are no layer tricks, beveling or shading.

I know, i love that Reach logoBut i feel like 2000x1000 is high res because when are you really going to need a logo thats 6400x2700? Thats the around the size of my boxes
Plus my stupid laptop starts freezing up at 3000x2000+ And not every logo is just Text and Gradients.

True, a logo or any other image need not be 6400x2700 px in size to be considered high resolution, but I would hardly call 1600x800 high resolution.
Who said anything different? Certainly not me. By the way, the Reach logo may be a gradient, but I didn't just type in a text and use a gradient. I created that logo by using vectors I made with the pen tool. Yeah, it took me the better part of a day to get it right. And not every logo is just Text and Gradients.
Im no Jevangod...but here are your renders LaserSonic:

Dude i would love it if you helped me with rendering. As you can see im not that good of a renderer, but im pretty good at mimicking effects, like shines or blurs.
Thanks for the render TwistRox!
