Choppy outline?

When I do a outline on a text in GIMP, it always get very choppy. Is there any tricks to get it in better quality?

You can download a plugin somewhere that basically does it for you, it also makes the program a lot better. I have it but I can't remember how I installed it or where I got it from. I'll have a look through my old posts, I'm pretty sure someone told me about it in a thread I made.
