I don't regularly drink. I will occasionally have around half a standard drink. One time I had two standard drinks, and that was only because I was incredibly bored and just wanted the time to pass.
When I drink, it's because it creates a sensation of being relaxed, carefree and just generally opens up a pleasant state of mind unattainable without it.

I drink, and respect it if other people choose not to, and as Coolguy said, a little every once in a while won't do any harm, its not like your an alchoholic the second you zip some beer =P

So one party doesn't like drinking, so the other does, we can't really suspect why people drink is JUST to get drunk, and we can't force others to believe drinking is wrong despite what they believe.
Some people drink, some people don't, sorted.
