I see unlike most people, you were good and decided to post your box in the forums for critique before on the main page. Well done!

However, this is the General section, you want to post it in
Critiques / Works in Progress section! No matter.

Also, a good free program that works as well as Photoshop is Gimp! Feel free to download and follow some tutorials on youtube or something, and just generally play around with it until you master it!
