    Default What is "Doctor Who"?

I keep hearing about it, but I can't find any type of description as far as what the show is about. All I know is that David Tennant is apparently awesome at the role, it's a BBC show, and that there's some issue with the 10th and 11th Doctors, whatever that means. So what is this show about? Anyone know?

I don't watch it but DavidTennant isn't the doctor any more. The doctor 'regenerates' every now and then. I don't knowwho it is now.

It's the longest running science fiction show ever. 43 years.

I'll field that question, I still claim I'm the No. 1 fan

Doctor Who is a BBC show about an Alien known as The Doctor, the last of his kind (the Time Lords), The Doctor can travel through time and space by his spaceship, the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) that is shaped like a Police Public Call Box and Is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, The Doctor has thirteen lives meaning that when he dies, he can change form, the next Doctor is the youngest Doctor there has been, for information go to www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho

    The Previous Doctors:
    1 - William Hartnell
    2 - Patrick Troughton
    3 - Jon Pertwee
    4 - Tom Baker
    5 - Peter Davison
    6 - Colin Baker
    7 - Sylvester Macoy
    8 - Paul McGann
    9 - Christopher Eccleston
    10 - David Tennant

    Did that help?

Incorrect, David Tennant has four more specials to go until the next Doctor comes along, little bit more info now; The Doctor's companions are almost constantly with him, but eventually, they all leave, since Doctor Who took off again in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston, the first companion was Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and since she left (Rose got trapped in a parallel universe, Billie merely left) almost everyone who watches the show has wanted her back, then she came at the end of the fourth series to battle The Doctor's deadliest enemies, the Daleks (Tin pepper pots with lasers) (My avatar) she then went back to the parallel universe with The Doctor's clone, who is part Time Lord - part Human (they actually make a mistake there, as the Doctor has a human mother, Paul McGann's Doctor says it), anyway, that's all I have to say right now, good day.

I'm not sure if you can access the BBC's iPlayer in the US but you can try. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer It can be watched there.

Doctor Who is an awesome show once you give it a chance. At first, it seems weird and cheesy, but the wackiness, and the rather engrossing story leaves you wanting more after a while.

Damn i should be a broadcaster or something.

Where do you watch it? Is it on TV here, or are you watching the DVDs?

You can watch it right on TV, on BBC. Its off season right now, and its a toss up if it will even come back on.

There was also another show, Torchwood, which was a loose tie-in to Doctor Who. Not sure if you've heard of it. It was the same sort of off-beat British humor like Doctor Who, but a bit more serious. Might want to check that one out too, if you want. Its off season as well though, sadly, and also a toss-up for coming back.

A shame, really, all the good shows these days are getting taken off and replaced with annoying reality shows. Are You Smarter Then A 5th Grader? I mean really?

People don't know Doctor Who is? That seems so strange to me, but my family kinda raised me on it, my dad was a pretty big fan, and my mom for some reason randomly shouts ""Exterminate!" in Dalek's voice (which I usually reply, "We are the Borg, Resistance if futile!" yep nerdy I know)
I'm not a huge fan, but it's a pretty good, you can catch it on CBC if you live in Canada, and the CBC website puts the last few episodes up.

There is no chance the US would remake it. If they did remake it, it would probally be worse then what they did to Kath 'n' Kim.

If you have satellite and possibly digital cable, most providers have BBC America. It's all basically BBC content, and it does play Doctor Who. There are also Series sets you can buy if you feel compelled to do so. Additionally, you can try www.surfthechannel.com , I noticed they have episodes linked on there. Hopefully you find this helpful. I've actually never seen the series at all, just thought I'd interject some info.
