All I spent was 25 dollars for sony headphones and 400 dollars for a Toshiba Windows 7 Home Premium System. I could have got a sound jack usb for my compaq or the expensive way, I just wanted the new laptop instead.

I just got a Toshibia laptop the problem lied with my headphone jack in my previous Compaq laptop, I purchased Sony headphones plugged it into the new toshiba and it works now, so in short the problem was with my previous laptop not the headphones.
