I'm kind of the same way unless the band has really awesome lyrics, or genuinely can be shut out. I listen to a lot of Japanese music, but there's something I love about DragonForce because of how simple the lyrics are. You don't really have to pay attention, but it makes it flow way better. I've never really listened to full out orchestra
