No custom PC I found a nice HP Pavilion with some good specs it is a gaming PC

I will just get Athlon 2 X-2 Quad Core processor

So either a better processor or better GPU this hurts my head lol :P

Which Phenom II are you looking at? Any of the quad core Phenom IIs would be a substantial improvement over the Athlon. I think it may be smart to spend a little less on the GPU and put that money towards a Phenom II or FX CPU rather than the Athlon, mostly for futureproof reasons. Athlons are pretty outdated now.

The AMD Radeon 6850 HD is cheaper so I might just go with that. Do you think the Phemom II would handle this better?

Looks killer, man. If I were you, I'd go with a bit beefier CPU, but I'm sure the Athlon would work alright.
