This has been a question i've asked myself for a while, and i take it since i loved KH, KH2, Final Fantasy VII, X, and Crisis Core, i figure i think that i'm a Nomura than rather then a Final Fantasy fan, or something, also i get teh feeling that if Square-Enix didnt have Nomura, S-E would be trash. i mean, look at the recent game from SE that were under Nomura's design adn supervision, they have all been decent at best. for example, Infinite Undiscovery, while the name sounds appealing, a little, it ended up being a decent game. well thats what reviews say at least.

And i realized that the only reason i really want to play Final Fantasy XIII is because of the great character designs, since its not being directed by Tetsuya Nomura, i think that the game will probably be an "Alright" experience and not what we expected and get our hope shot down., look at Final Fantasy X-2 for example. He made the interesting character designs, but didnt direct the game and apparently that game was stupid to most and unfufilling. Thats why i say im a Nomura fan rather then a Final Fantasy/Square-Enix fan. An since Final Fantasy Versus XIII is being directed and character designed by Nomura, its definitely a sure hit!

Now, for you opinions on where you stand, FF fan , overall S-E fan or just Nomura fan?

I'm going to have to say I'm a Nomura fan. His work is like Miyamoto. Its always well thought out directed and executed to perfection.

Nomura has been using an egregious amount of belts and zippers lately - all of his designs look the same. TBH, he has sort of hit the brick wall, as far as creativity goes in the past few years. I'd rather have Amano as a character designer than Nomura.

Anyway, I'm neither a Square-enix (in it's current state) or a Nomura fan. I'd say, I'm more of a fan of any game made by Yasumi Matsuno.

Dragon Quest is on par with Final Fantasy imo. So Square-Enix wouldn't be trash without Nomura.

@DMS - Idk Yoshitaka Amano hasnt been a character designer since Final Fantasy IX and i've seen those character designs an i dont like em, well except the bad kuja guy i think :P and what wrong with belts every where? im sure there will be a monster in one of the new FFXIII games where he/she is just covered in them, and that will probably be the end of that phase for Nomura. idk i personally like the belts thing somewhat, because i dont like the old english style of clothing going on in most RPGs

As for Yasumi Matsuno, the only game of his i've played is FFXII, and i thought it was pretty good, but theres a long angry story for me there (>_<).

@Rokudaime - I forgot about that, i've never even played any of those Dragon Quest game so i have no idea what they are about, no wait i did play one on the NES way back in the day, but i hated it. but i do know that that series is pretty equal to Finals Fantasy for the most part, or in Japan anyway.

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and Nomura is genius but i never got into nomura work other then KH and Final Fantasy. If Square Enix never did had Nomura then Squaresoft at the time would go done hill.
