Is it possible for Reed to maybe add some sort of thing that tells us the number of points a box has. I mean, its just so annoying counting those little squares.
Anybody with me here?

Agreed x20. It's really annoying counting the squares.

[EDIT] There is a flaw with this program. If, for say a box has 98 points, and a person looks at it they'll say: Oh, that's a nice box let'd get it into the HOF (^ ~ ). However I could be wrong...

That is a really good idea. I get really tired from counting all those squares.

why do you count them? it's because you want to find out how close it is to Hall of Fame, and how many more faves you need, isn't it? You see, he left it out for a reason. If people are taking the time to count every little red square they see that just shows they're REALLY desperate for the Hall.

Technically, we're not supposed to count them. Someone just figured out that it takes about 100 "points" to get in

Either way, Reed won't be giving the quota to anyone, as that would be defeating the purpose of this points system.
And to be honest, I think it's about time he raises it a notch or two, so the quality of HoF boxes doesn't plateau like its doing now, but rather...the quality should be increasing over time to show our progression as artists.

Completely agreed.
It seems that any "good" box can get into the Hall of Fame now, but it was called the Hall of Fame for a reason. Only those few special boxes that became famous for what they did, whether it be breaking the usual box formula or being completely eye-catching and superbly well-designed, would be recongnized by the Hall. Back when VGBA started, a box getting the Hall of Fame was a rarity. Now, any good artist is expected to have multiple HoF's.
I think there should be a "Gold Hall of Fame", or something of the sort, that only artists with complete mastery in boxart-designing can get entered in.
That way we can honor and recognize the right people.

I hope people listen to this, when I said it people didn't give a shit. Anyways, I suppose the "Stats" are like a Golden Hall of Fame, but I really think they should up the number of points. I've seen far too many crappy boxes (like my own) get into the Hall.

a Golden Hall Of Fame doesn't sound like a great idea and would just make things more complicated.
How about increasing the points total to.... lets just say 125?

Well, we know that it's not a flat 100 point quota like most people have been stressing it to be. I was thinking of around a 25%-50% increase to whatever original value Reed set up in order for a box to get HoF.
It's nice that good-great boxes are also being recognized for HoF, I have no problems with that at all. It's just that as qwerty said, when the site first started, getting HoF was a rarity- right now, boxes get HoF almost every hour or two.
Nowadays, I'm not at all surprised when I go check what got into the HoF and what didn't. Now I'm not saying the great boxes should go unrecognized, but a distinction between the great and the best boxes on the site should atleast be made. Hope Reed considers this.

How about leaving hof,and adding a silver medal-HoF for 125-150% favs, and Gold HoF for 200%?

how about people just stop worrying about the HoF and start making boxes for the fun of it ?

Easy solution, don't count them. I don't. I'm not worried if my boxes make HoF anymore, and I don't even fully understand the new system. It seems to me that a lot of un-legit people are becoming higher in rank because of the number of boxes they spam and the few favs they get on a box. It all adds up, but no system is perfect!

Completely agree. I actually posted something similar in the Site Improvements thread a couple of months ago. The Hall was supposed to be somewhat exclusive, but it's not. It really should only be reserved for the most top notch boxes. Maybe this could be partly amended with a system of medals. Have the Hall of Fame, but maybe different colored medals in the thumbnails for the box (gold, silver, bronze). Just an idea.
EDIT: Ayron beat me to the punch.

I agree with Ninty and Techne, just make boxes for the fun of it, if they make it in the HoF, great, But if the don't, who cares?

You people really bum me out. Since when did it become a huge deal to get your box in the HoF? The whole point of this is not a competition (hence why we have a competition thread) but to be a fun experience, and hopefully it will help you grow as an artist.
Stop counting your points and just chill.
HoF is nice, but if you're a good artist you don't need HoF to prove it. : )

Heres an Idea: Lets stop talking about it, and get working on some new boxes. Now, I want you to all do 1000 pushups.
