Not only one 90 minute cutscene, but many.
They better be following RE4's perspective, I'm used to the 20 minute cutscene trend since I've played all Metal Gear Solid games except for Portable ops, so I'm used to the cutscenes being about 20 minutes, but MGS4 is like a fucking film. It's 20 hours of gaming, 540 hours of watching!!!!
(Yes, 540 is a random number.)

90 minute cutscenes = One more reason why Sam Fisher could obliterate Solid Snake.
That and the fact that he's about 140 years younger.
Srsly though... An hour and a half? Why? Why not use that time to actually, you know, put in GAMEPLAY?

For a video GAME, 90 minute cut scenes are, well, a little much...
A good game can tell the story in gameplay. Nothing wrong with cut scenes, but when you need 90 minutes cutscenes to explain the story, it's not the story that sucks, it's the game.

Well I anticipate this 90-minute cutscene will probably be the final scene. I guess MGS4 is the last of the series chronologically, so it needs to have a really epic finale, like MGS1's final cutscene was 20 minutes. And did any of you hear? Some reviewers who played through the game spent about 30 hours on it in one playthrough, about 1/3 of that will be cutscenes. Yeah, 90 minutes is a tad much, but hey...
Oh, and for the record, Snake >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sam Fisher

Sam Fisher would kick Snake's ass any day of the week.
He's like 60 years old, for Chrissakes.

yeah, only in MGS4 though. He's still an expert in the battlefield and with stealth. And with age comes experience, y'know. Like, Fisher would be challenged to get through a corridor with 4-5 guards unnoticed, Snake fights head-on with gigantic war-machines, and he uses a cardboard box to hide, how awesome is that? Not to mention the Splinter Cell games are no where near as amazing as MGS.

Well if you've played previous Metal Gears you'd know that during some of the cutscenes there are parts where you do press a couple buttons to interact or have a flashback or something. but yeah....sam fisher is trash...:p and snake is only in his 30's he just looks really old, but snake would murder sam fisher because snake is the original stealth master :D

Agreed.
I've played the first 3 Splinter Cell games (I didn't find Chaos Theory as good as people said, and I remember it getting a 9.9 on the xbox magazine) Honestly, the story is very shallow in comparison to mgs. The gameplay was great no doubt, but all the objectives popping up every now and then really annoyed the hell out of me. The graphics are amazing, but it doesn't matter a whole lot, since more than half of the time you're just sneaking in darkness. It was cool at first, but after the first couple of missions, it got old for me.
I've also played the first 3 MGS games so far, with Snake Eater being the best of the three. Some gameplay mechanics were a bit over the top- Snake is pretty much a one man army in mgs3 and can withstand a torrent of shots without dying. (though it's much different in extreme mode, lol) I don't mind the overly long cutscenes a bit since they really flesh out the complex story and will leave you wanting for more. The characters and their development throughout the series is just amazing, as is Kojima's attention to detail- the guy is just a genius.
Conclusion: MGS > Splinter Cell.
*Grabs a bowl of popcorn and watches more mgs4 previews* :)

yeah it's quite staggering to see how far the man's came, I was watching GT's Metal Gear Retrospective last night, and he was really struggling to get into the gaming business when he was 23. Metal Gear was his last chance to get the job, and boy, look what that's done to him now...

Snake is old becuase he is the inferior clone (Liquid was actually better, listen to Ocelot at the end of MGS). Because of the Les Enfants Terribles cloning project, the clones aged quickly like Snake in this case. He also ages because he is diagnosed with FoxDie.

I'm going to have to pop in here.
The words of "SC > MGS" are words from a fanboy who can't accept the fact that MGS is bigger than any xbox franchise.
Splinter Cell is not xbox exclusive, but when your console has no good stealth games other than multiplats, you just have to cut your losses and shoot down the opposing exclusive and say the multiplat is better, even when it's practically scientific fact that it is not.
