What do you think is the best videogame ever made? Its simple.

Post what game, what system, and why you think it is the best videogame ever, etc. Also if you can't choose just one game then feel free to make a list of your top favs. (note: If you want you may, after looking at other people's choices--you can rate their choices on a scale of one to ten also as you post what you think the best videogame is. ((or you can just rate others choices if you wish to do so)) So that way we all might find out what the best videogame ever made was/ is... if that is possible).

And btw, I'm not talking about ANY fan-made games like ones made by/with GameMaker or ROM Hacked videogames. etc.

Im pretty sure theres been several thread like this already made but still, noneoftheless....

I say Sonic The Hedgehog for the original Sega Megadrive (or Genesis in USA). I pick this game mainly because of childhood memories. When I was young, I was absolutly addicted to this game. Every saturday morning, I remember I would rush down to the TV and grab the control pad before my sisters could. I dunno why I loved this game sooo much, maybe it was the fantastic music? The quality gameplay and controls? The speed? Or maybe it was because the graphics just blew me away (They were good graphics for 1991.)

Oh yes, I seem to have forgotten my favourite game! It is Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast (the Gamecube version, although enhanced, does not cut it for me). Three reasons:
1. The graphics were sooo amazing for their time, and the 3D remains to be the greatest I have ever seen. Also, there are minimal problems with pop-up, and considering this game was developed in 1998, that is a great achievment that should have been widely recognised!
2. The sound was beautiful. Jun Senoue is a GENIUS!!! I just wonder why he has gone a bit off track recently... Anyhow, the riff for Open Your Heart is just one of those on-the-brain things that one will never forget!!! You hear it once, you know it. That simple.
3. The gameplay. Proving that Sonic is still the fastest thing alive, even in 3D. The loops on the first level are the best in any game that makes use of circles. F-F-F-FAST!!!!

PS. What do the little red squares next to my name mean, and how do get more, as I have seen that people like marker have 9.

I could make a list... but top three for me would be --

1. Tetris --- Obvious.... simple, fun, addictive, timeless, can be played on any format.... etc...

2. Powermonger (Amiga) -- Strategy Action game by Bullfrog -- designed by Peter Molyneux now more famous for Fable. Absolutely amazing game, unfortunately, the sequel was crap in comparison.

3. Paradroid (Commodore 64) -- Action Shooter designed/programmmed by Andrew Braybrook -- Control a droid to take out dreadnoughts of droids by shooting them or taking control of them. Superb - gread blend of action, strategy and puzzle.

Yeah.. the old ones are the best :D:cool:

i'm getting San Andreas tomorrow.

Unless you don't own a 60/80GB ps3, there's not really much point. SA is an amazing game but with GTA IV out now you might as well go play that, since it's been improved so much. If you like San Andreas over Liberty City, then sure, but with the new game out, buying the older ones isn't the smartest thing to do. It's like going out and buying Metroid for the NES when you can get the remake on GBA for probably half the price (NES games are rare).

well, whatever, the point is, why go out and get the older version of a game when you can get the new up-to-date and super-improved one? Like, in Vice City you couldn't swim. In that, GTAIII and SA the controls felt a bit jumpy when sprinting, the draw distance was pretty bad, etc.

edit: and you don't have it already? what, did you parents never let you buy it? if you wanna catch up with us GTA veterans (well, not me, i haven't been playing for a while) you better get crackin!

Actually, IMO, San Andreas is a lot more fun than GTA IV. GTA IV adds a lot and the story is for sure a lot better than San Andreas and it's way more polished, but the excessive fun factor of having a party at your house and fucking around is missing - even online.

GTA IV is the better game, but San Andreas is definitely more fun.

See, there is that one little catch:

San Andreas and IV are two completely different games.

4. Chrono Cross
5. Final Fantasy Tactics (psx- not advance!)
