Recently, the game console market has really gone downhill. I know with the release of the Wii, new people have been drawn to the gaming universe, but so far most of the Wii adverts I've seen are basically old biddies in homes acting similar to raving loonies whilst trying to look like they are interested in the console. And what's up with the whole "It appeals to all ages" thing? My Granny loved games, AND her first console was a Dreamcast! Even I started gaming at 3 (my first console was also a Dreamcast, which I still have today) and am completely unaffected by the hype surrounding the Wii (no rhyme intended).
Another rather nasty niggle of Nintendo's new(ish) console is the control method. IT MAKES ME WANT TO TEAR MY HEAR OUT IN UTTER DISPAIR!!! The motion sensing is cruddy, jumpy and completely innacurate. The controllers are also unfriendly to left handed people (one of which I am) as it gives them a choice of trying to co-ordinate the (poor excuse for a) remote in their right hand, or having the rather rubbery analog thumpad in the wrong hand, rendering the Wii essentially impossible to control.
My point, however, is that the Wii is a completely over-hyped travesty of a console that should be avoided at all costs. But does anyone else think this? Am I the only one in the world that hates the Wii? Please reply!
