They really are... OXM (love it, but it's biased) gave Mass Effect, Gears, BioShock, and Halo 3 tens.

Yep and Official Nintendo Magazine gave Mario Kart Wii 94%, Sonic & Mario at the Olympic Games 90%, Mario Strikers Charged Football 91%, Red Steel 91%.

Im sure they're all great games but the scores all seem to high compared with most other independant reviews.

@Ryan: Play are stupid. Just ignore them when it comes to game reviews. They gave Heavenly Sword a 10/10, nuff said. Hell, THE SUN (i think it was, might have been Sunday Mirror. But it was definitely some newspaper) gave Sonic the Hedgehog 06 a 92%. Only professional game reviewers can be trusted.

I agree, there's no way it's going to be anywhere near as critically acclaimed as GTA IV and that comes from a MGS addict. I'm well-informed that they've tweaked MGS4's controls and set it in a battle field but the simple fact is the series doesn't have universal appeal, stealth gameplay and lengthy crazy cut scenes don't appeal to a large number of people which is what is at the core of series.

The trailer is cool but cheesy, some of the voice work sounds like it's been taken from a cartoon. I love the cinematic vibe but I hope the game is more gloomy like the first trailers portrayed.

Still saying that, this will probably be my personal game of the year, only a month left.

I don't care if the game is the regular version, I only want the best out of the PS3, which is the 80GB model with 4 usb ports, ability to play ps2 games, and the DualShock 3 controller along with the game. It only costs 499.99, but why do they had to make the Gun Grey PS3 a 40GB, which costs originally costs 399 now 600 dollah!?

The only reason I bought a PS3 was for GTA IV and MGS4... hope, I just hope, this game will be epic. Kojima at least intends to finish Solid's story arc.

Edge and some of the other reputable game magazine/websites which have actually played through the whole game (in a konami event) have said that it does tie up all lose ends and has a closure more like "Return of the King" than "Halo 3".

So I do think Kojima will finish Solid's story, but yeah there will most likely be a Metal Gear something in the future - but possibly with a new character.

I saw a pre-order case for the game in my local GAME store, with the final boxart and all. The back looks fucking shit ugly. Just a big black space with 6 screenshots and loads of badly organised text.

Yeah so did I.
Well, I was looking at the back, for game installation, to see it will fit on my hardrive (got a 40GB hardrive, but 20GB is being usedby Linux) and luckily installation was 4.1GB. I thought it will be 25GB since the game it self is around 47-50GB :p

And yeah, the back cover has a weird range of screenshots, some beta screenshots with no HUDs and some with HUDs. But the font aspires quite alot.
