View Full Version : What do you want to see in Devil May Cry 5?

I know it's a bit too early to be thinking about DMC5 (since DMC4 came out a few months ago), but I was just wondering. What do you expect from it? Of course, this game will be taking place after when Dante is stuck in Hell (DMC2). I hope he still keeps his trash-talking, cool-looking, bad ass attitude!:D
You can tell there will be another DMC.;)
Storyline (beginning):
Here's want I think. Now that Dante has defeated the demon Agrosax, he is trying to escape from Hell with his motorcycle. Lucia desperately awaits for Dante's arrival (if he returns until then).
Gameplay:
This is how I want the gameplay to be. Dante should keep his styled based combat engine, except he should have completely fresh moves (along with some old ones) for each weapon. The gameplay in DMC is always brilliant, however. I'm getting tired of the "nothing new" feeling every time I play DMC4. C'mon, Capcom! Bring back some of the cool moves! Like having the ability to run on and across walls!
Key features:
Secret missions should be kept. There should be a mini side quest mode, where you'll be able to go into the earlier DMC ruins while fighting some old and classical bosses and acquiring their weaponry powers.
Weapons:
Dante definitely needs more weapons than in DMC4. Capcom should bring back some of his old classics while still introducing new weapons.
Enemies:
Boss battle should be harder; enemies should look more fierce.
Characters:
New and returning characters should make an appearance. This is what ticked me off in the last sequel. Lady only appeared in the game twice. I mean, come on! Characters like her should play big roles. Here are the characters I want returned:
Vergi - Hey! You never know! He might come back! Don't lose all hope yet. :( Even though he's technically dead, Capcom doesn't always have to stick to the story chronologically.;)
Sparda - He has never appeared in a DMC game intentionally.
Mundus - That liar! Says he would return to conquer the world, but failed.
I have a lot more, but I'm too lazy to list anymore reasons.:p
Character designs:
Definitely should look more cooler and stylish. I'd love to see more of Capcom's imagination go to work!
Anyway, even though this game hasn't even begun development, it's still going to be one of my most anticipated games. So, feel free to discuss anything you look forward to in the highly anticipated... *drum roll* DEVIL MAY CRY 5!

I would like to see Nero be in the next DMC game! (I dont care what people say, I like him!)
How about an online co-op mode too? That would be so cool! One person plays as Dante and the other plays as Nero. They team up to fight evil together.

Hell no. it's best we keep Devil May Cry 2 out of the question. That game sucked so much no one should play it. No one wants to go through a very crappy game to find out what happens. It's best that game stays last and seperate from the rest of the storyline.
The game, IMO, should be a prequel to the entire series. You know all that crap the narrator/whatever says during the opening cutscenes. The whole "Sparda thought the demons a billion years ago... etc" I'd like to actually play that. Play as Sparda, fight the army of Mundus for the sake of humanity. It would be awesome. I couldn't see anything else working. But I'd like to see more backstory on Nero's origins (I have this theory about who he might really be, i'll tell you sometime), maybe just after DMC4 but still keeping away from 2. I will not touch anything that is related to Devil May Cry 2 in any way.
I don't see how Vergil should come back. He's dead, bob's your uncle, the end. He was his normal form in DMC3, he was Nelo Angelo in DMC1, and his sword, Yamato, played a big role in DMC4's storyline, but that's it. Maybe a game taking place before 3 and 1, but nothing else. But yes, I would like to see Mundus return. There is infact an easter egg in DMC4, you can just spot Mundus' name on one of the signs in the cutscene before fighting Berial as Nero. But he did say he'd come back at the end of DMC1. Return to the second paragraph of this post.
Sparda's the ultimate demon-warrior-hero, he destroyed his own race for the sake of his enemies. He got laid by a human chick and gave birth to two of the coolest game characters in existence. He wields a gigantic sword with his own name on it. You can't get much better than that. I want to play as him and actually play through all that crap Sanctus is blabbering on about in DMC4. If Capcom are gonna make me sit through his lecture on Sparda while speaking in the most annoying voice known to planet earth, I might as well get some enjoyment out of it.
Oh, and Cerium... no. Co-op would DESTROY devil may cry as we know it. Obviously you didn't play the first three (well, the first and third. The second isn't technically a game). The fourth game is the easiest of the bunch, it was made more accessible to newbies to the franchise and was more pleasing to beginners. It just wouldn't work in co-op. The characters have different moves and gameplay styles. For example, Nero could use the Devil Bringer to reach a ledge that would normally be inaccessible. How could Dante reach it? ...he couldn't, unless Nero helped him. And in that case, Nero would be doing all the work. It wouldn't be fun, it'd be tedious and frustrating, especially since DMC is 100% linear and you are always limited to your options, it would become boring with a second player. And it wouldn't work in the story either... Dante and Nero always prefer going solo. They are friendly rivals, it would seem, but they wouldn't just team up for the sake of teaming up. Think about it.
Being a major fan of the franchises, I can't say I agree with your ideas.

How about if the main villian in DMC5 was some really strong, powerful being and Nero and Dante NEED to team up together to take him down as it is too strong for them to do it alone.
They did sorta team up in DMC4 but not in the way I would of liked.
Vengeance
04-26-2008, 01:50 PM
...even so, they still wouldn't. Dante has thought bigger things than Nero has ever dreamed of. Mundus' final form, the Savior, etc. Nero did battle the savior but only his weakened form and the battle was really short and easy. And if it was just some powerful villian, i doubt they'd need to team up for the ENTIRE game.

Yeah I guess. So what would you prefer then?
Should the game just be 100% Dante?
Or should it part Dante, part Nero like DMC4?
Or maybe Capcom will come up with a brand new playable character?

no new main playable characters. Dante and Nero are fine. You all remember what happened with Lucia? yeah...
Dante is the main character of the series, let's just keep it as that. New characters are fine, but not ones that completely take over the game.

Devil May Cry 2 was bad but not bad enough to forget about it and remove it from the timeline. It not the bad level of Superman 4 or Batman & Robin.

They made movie sequels to crapp movies like Step up and Hostel. So why not.

DMC is great, ADFD. I take it you only played the first one? I have to agree it was boring, the level design was so bad and there was hardly any story. The 3rd and 4th game were good though.

...what? what the fuck? I've watched plenty of 18-rated movies I've lost count. Not to mention I've played some incredibly gory games like God of War and Resident Evil 4. Are you saying i'm some immature kid or something? what the fuck was that supposed to mean, anyway? The film was trash, the acting was flat, the story was paper thin and it was a mindless gore fest, not to mention a second-rate clone of Saw. I couldn't care less about the amount of blood and decapitations, it was a crappy movie.

DMC5, eh. Little bit early but give it a go. I think it could have a Resident Evil 2 kinda approach. In the beginning you choose either Dante or Nero and play the whole game as the character that character. Most of the missions would be the same for both, but some would be either Nero-exclusive and some Dante-exclusive. There would be one or two scenes where the player is accompinied with the other character controlled by the game. You know, a boss fight, or some epic slaughter where you have to get something like a thousand kills. Being accompinied by Lady wouldn't be bad either.
Then let's talk about the ladies. Ditch the Kyrie chick Nero. Bros before hos, you feelin me? No, seriously, Kyrie was just a cheap plot device in DMC4 and held no real meaning. How many lines did she have in the game? Three? She was nothing more than a trophy for Nero. I want more Lady in DMC5. The amount of screen time she had in DMC4 was ludacrous. A total of two scenes, worse yet, the second one was accessible only if you survived through the ending rumble. I have no opinion of Trish. Keep her, leave her, I don't care.
Lastly I want Dante's skills to be reduced a bit. The access to all the styles (except Dark Slayer) right in the beginning and middle of battle was just too much for me. Not to mention that six weapons are way too much to handle at once. Also, the amount of basic attacks seemed too low. There were only the basic combo, the multistab combo, power thrust, slashing the enemy in the air and the airborne vertical slice. These seem very weak compared to Nero's basic attacks. Okay, those were of course the moves usable when Rebellion is equipped, but Gilgamesh is pretty much the same, and the needle weapon (which' name I do not recall right now) is just strange. Basically I want Dante downgraded to DMC3 level.
Vengeance

Yeah... looking back, they've actually cloned the melee armour weapon a lot. Ifrit in DMC1, Beowulf in DMC3, and Gilgamesh in DMC4 are all pretty much the same. Lucifer wasn't that good either. You could'nt just throw a needle from across the room like in the cutscene, you just launch it and it hovers in front of you like nothing. The combos were difficult to execute properly. Pandora was OK, but it only had like 4-5 different forms contrary to the 666 that it apparently has... not to mention you could only use the big hovering tank thing for like 3 seconds. <_< I would like Nevan to come back. That was the coolest weapon like ever. It made the Half-Life 2 Gravity Gun look like the Green Shell from Mario Kart.
I want more Trish though. Man... you could crack walnuts on her ass. Remove Kyrie though. She sucks. Generic weak female damsel-in-distress girlfriend-of-the-main-character. Seriously. I haven't seen characters this lame since Digimon season 2. The only thing she was useful for was bait for Nero to crawl into Sanctus' generic world domination plans.
Speaking of villians, I want Mundus back. I know, I already said that before, but he was awesome. He actually felt like a god of the underworld or whatever he is. Sanctus is the worst villian ever, bar none. Bring back fucking Mundus Capcom, jeez.
Oh, and if you ever think of bringing Lucia back into DMC5, i will never touch my game, even if it gets Game of the Year 2010 or whatever.

not to mention you could only use the big hovering tank thing for like 3 seconds.
Actually you can use it for ALOT longer when your fill up your Pandora Power level bar.
You need to power it up to complete the final secret mission. It can last up to 15 seconds or maybe slightly longer.
Vengeance
04-28-2008, 12:47 PM

Cerium
04-28-2008, 12:51 PM
By using Pandora to kill enemies powers up your bar. Obviously using a large attack like the hover thing or when you open up the box will deplete the power. I think whilst you have Pandora as your weapon, there should be a pink bar by your health bar which determines how much power you have. The higher up the bar is, the more powerful Pandora becomes.

Too true, these two weapons were far too difficult to handle. You'd think that Pandora would've made for a good replacement for Kalina Ann at the least, but it was just too slow to handle and it's range and destruction field were ridicuously small. And the separate power meter Pandora. Man, I hated that thing just as much as I hated the Royal Guard power meter. I have quite enough work maintaining my health meter and Devil Trigger meter.
What I'm saying is that the player has way too much stuff to handle, when playing as Dante. You got five different styles, six different weapons and four different power meters. I had enough trouble mastering the four weapon system in DMC3 (my weapons of choice: Rebellion and Agni & Rudra, Ebony & Ivory and Kalina Ann).
