haha.. it's a long story...

basically, after hanging out with loads of death metal fans on Gametrailers Forums, I ended up convincing myself to give it another go. I guess it mainly started after I heard some Opeth songs, such as The Drapery Falls and The Lotus Eater, and I really enjoyed them. The thing I was never a fan of about death metal was the harsh vocals, which I found I could actually listen to with Opeth. After that, I listened to a few melodic death metal bands such as Amon Amarth, Devildriver and Children of Bodom, who admittedly aren't the best bands around but they're a good start. Funnily enough, it was a lot of metalcore and thrash metal that helped me get into death metal... after listening to tons of stuff like Killswitch, All That Remains and Demon Hunter, I sort of got used to harsh vocals, because that was originally what kept me away from death metal. Stuff like Slayer, Kreator, Death Angel, Lamb of God, Pantera and Testament also helped out quite a bit, too. I've started moving up the ladder a little, listening to Gojira, Dark Tranquility and old In Flames (stuff like Whoracle and Jester Race, as you've seen - initially I hated In Flames after hearing Take This Life from Guitar Hero 3, but it turns out their newer stuff is considered shit by most fans I've met). I recently stumbled across Death's cover of Painkiller (one of my favourite metal songs) and although the vocals were kinda weird, and I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, I found myself coming back to it and listening to it again a few times... so I checked out more of their stuff, and here I am now. You'll never find me listening to Cannibal Corpse or anything, I hate all that gory "brutal" stuff. Death metal has to be melodic or progressive for me to really enjoy it, but I can appreciate other types of it.

I thought this was their most well-received? :confused:

Anyway, I thought Leviathan was better than this, but Crack the Skye beats all!
