Like alot of their longer stuff it takes a while to get to love this song, because there's quite alot to take in. It took me up to around 5-10 listens but it was absolutely worth it. The clean vocaled sections i love.
It's easily become one of my favorite songs of the year.

I've always like Eric Johnson, but I've only recently taken notice to just how brilliant of a musician he is. His guitar playing style is so original, and so appealing. This album has inspired me to give up soccer, and start taking guitar lessons full-time. I may never get as good as Eric Johnson, but I'm going to try every way I can to get as close as possible.

If you like Cradle of Filth that's cool. You're free to like whatever you want. But I literally think that is the worst song I have heard in my entire life. I have never said that before and genuinely meant it, but this time I am completely serious. Obviously that doesn't include unpaid musicians, but as far as professional musicians are concerned, I do not think I have ever heard a song that atrocious. If you think that makes me close-minded, so be it, but I am simply baffled as to how anyone can enjoy that.

This is actually the reason why I don't view some things as "the greatest *insert thing here*", since there are people who will say otherwise. Even statistics and polls that say who are the greatest artists in the industry are all based on public opinion, and yes, there are people who will disagree.

It makes more sense to myself by saying that a certain artist is the most compatible to my taste in music, rather than that particular artist is one of the greatest artists in history in my opinion. It doesn't totally change the fact that I like a certain artist that you may dislike, but it's less likely to start an argument if I try to be professional about my opinion.

Sometimes you can change the way people perceive music, not immediately though, just naturally and slowly.

It's kind of like this song. A short time after graduating high school, a good friend of mine started showing me music made by one of her favorite indie artists, Renard, who makes music in a variety of styles centered around the electronic music genre. At the time, I wasn't fond of some of the music she sent me, not necessarily hating it, but basically not caring enough about it that it would make myself listen to it on my own. I was still open for more music to listen to though, so naturally I let her continue to send me more music. She then showed me one of the songs from one of Renard's latest albums at the time, Figurehead. It intrigued me to listen to the whole album, and holy crap, I am glad I did.

Figurehead destroyed every negative thought I had of the artist, the electronic music genre, and was one of the first musical contributions that expanded my musical tastes outside of Metal/Hard Rock, the other being Tom Waits. I found it to be so compatible with my taste, I payed I believe $15 during the time I obtained the first copy, and then another $10 for the remaster.
inb4 someone mentions that Renard is a furry, and then accuses me of being one.
It might be the foundation for myself being a lot more open minded to things, now that I think about it. My friend also introduced me to The Protomen, one of the few bands that interested me to the point where I had to see them live, which is hard to do.

Finished listening to Metallica / Lou Reed's Lulu.

I really think they deliberately made the album difficult to listen to. It's morbid, depressing, and comes to no surprise that Reed's lyrics are still "shocking" to some listeners. It doesn't substitute as an excuse as to how Reed's vocal contributions are extremely lacking; they seem to not fit within most of the songs' sound and structures, regardless if they are trying to branch out to the "Avant-garde music" theme.

Dragon and Junior Dad are pretty decent songs though, the album is a huge grower if you can stomach it. I know that most Metallica fans will be instantly turned off from this, and this is just one more excuse for 'Tallica haters to hate Metallica.

I couldn't care less, the album's okay by my books; it's nothing that I should be impressed or disgusted by.

Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine

It's not bad, but it doesn't really feel "new". 3 songs are re-recorded bonus tracks from other albums, we've heard Public Enemy and never dead, and it opens with a re-recorder Sudden Death from Guitar Hero. All the songs themselves are pretty good though, it's not as good as the last couple of albums, but it's decent. If you are hoping for a more return to the old days style, you'll be disappointed because it's more of the same stuff we've been hearing from Megadeth the last few years, but I like their new style too so it's still a pretty fun album to listen to. Worth checking out.
