It never really occured to me how good this album is... I always knew it was good, but it really is a great record. I'd easily put it in Maiden's top 5.

Iron Maiden's post-2000 albums are all amazing (haven't heard Dance of Death though), you just need patience to appreciate them. I love how IM aren't keen on simply being a nostalgic act or just playing the same formulaic music with new titles, they are actually challenging themselves as musicians, even as the years take a toll on their age.

The Final Frontier is amazing, that's for sure. The first time I listened to it, most of the songs felt the same, but the second listen made me pay real close attention.

My opinions on it are really mixed. There's some nice songs on there (Burning in the Skies and Iridescent) but the overall sound of the album is like a slightly worse NIN. There's some pretty terrible tracks on there (The Catalyst, Blackout, Wretches and Kings). On the whole I'm pretty dissapointed with it, although I give props to them for trying out something different. It's just a shame this "different" stuff doesn't sound good.

I thought I would give it a listen because the reviews have been really good, and it's not that bad actually (it's the new BMTH album if you don't know). The vocals are still a bit meh, but I kinda dig the sound they're going for on this one. I would probably like it if they weren't such faggots and didn't have such a horrible fucking fanbase. Album is a serious grower, I can actually listen to the whole thing without feeling disgusted now, but this is one of the worst songs on there. Probably one of the worst they've done, actually. The album contains some of their best songs and some of their worst songs, so it's a real mixed bag.

Haven't listened to this in a while. One of my favorite DT albums.

Really? It's one of my least favourites along with Falling Into Infinity and Images and Words. All three albums have at least one great song, but with the case of Awake I really don't like the production.. Petrucci's guitars are too buzzy, Labrie's vocals sound really strained (which isn't his fault, he suffered a bad pout of food poisoning prior to the album and his vocal chords have never fully recovered) and every album they've done with Jordan Rudess just soars above the rest.
