...Wow.

I'm going to admit, I'd never actually listened to this band before, but everyone says bad things about them so I conformed to avoid being chastised for my different tastes in music. I finally decided to give them a listen, and let me tell you, I was completely blown away. Blown away by their fantastic songwriting, breathtaking musicianship and the passion with which they play. There are so many intricate details and things that you notice each time you listen to it. I didn't think it was possible to be this great. The lyrics... don't even get me started on the lyrics. Such a deep and meaningful message within them that takes high levels of intelligence to even remotely understand. Their beautiful, extremely well-written lyrics changed my outlook on life. They've changed the way I think and look at things, but most of all, how I listen to music. The other musicians I listen to simply pale in comparison. There just is no way you can rival the amazing composition and general musical exellence that is BrokeNCYDE. Ignore the haters, they're just missing out because they don't understand great music.

I couldnt agree more man.

Pretty solid album. Was bugged that Danger mouse wasn't attached to it, but the production value is top notch.

It Doesn't have a mainstream friendly single ala. Feel good inc, so I'm assuming it won't be as big of a success as Demon Dayz. I particularly enjoyed White Flag, Stylo, Superfast jellyfish and Empire Ants.

That is particularly the reason I don't like Plastic Beach. I really enjoy the catchy-ass songs like 19-2000, Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood, Feel Good, etc. Listening through and hearing rapping almost everywhere I turn in the CD just turned me off. Also, Snoop Dogg? Really? B|

Sorry, but ABR suck. I listened to both Messengers and Constellations multiple times and they were some of the most boring albums I've ever heard. If you want to give the impression that metalcore is generic, stale and repetitive, then sure, they're a great introductory band.

xIAMHUNTERx
03-08-2010, 11:28 AM
Meaning that they're a gateway band into other types of metal.

I don't see how you got that impression at all because all their songs are different and they actually progress with their music... Unlike Bleeding Through.

Please, I listened to both those albums and everything was the same. Crap vocals, knock-off melodeath riffs and and more chugging breakdowns than you can shake a stick at (that were all the same). By the second song I could already tell what the rest of the album would be like.

As for Bleeding Through, if you've listened to their latest album, you'll know that they've evolved heaps, and it's easily their best yet. (Although their upcoming material is a bit questionable) I mean, for starters, they actually make proper use of their keyboard player now. Besides, Bleeding Through are a better band for getting into metalcore anyway. They have more clean sections, their riffs are catchier and, admittedly, have really similar lyrical themes to bands like Killswitch and BFMV.

If you want to get into metal from scratch, you might as well just avoid metalcore altogether.

I doubt it, all their breakdown patterns are different. They time-change a lot though, that's probably what you were hearing.

Just listened to the new song on their Myspace. I can't tell a difference, and it's horribly mixed. The keyboard sounds really random, like they have Marta for show and don't really know what to do with her.

They're certainly not terrible... I've heard much worse. At least when I hear Brendan's voice, I can tell it's Bleeding Through. If I were to hear an ABR song but not be told who it was, I probably wouldn't even realise until I was actually told.

Most of those riffs sound like they just came out of an old In Flames track. Tons of the more melodic metalcore bands are like that... ever since Killswitch did it, it's become more popular than a tray of fresh muffins at a backyard summer party.

I haven't got the chance to listen to Fall be Kind, but MPP was the most accessible AC record to date. It is a modern day rendition of a beach boys record, done right.

I'd say Strawberry Jam is just as good as MPP, however not as acessible. Admittedly, I wasn't feeling it untill 2 listens. However, even then I recognized the growing potential of For Reverend Green, Chores and Fireworks (easily my favourite 3 from the album) and how well paced the rest of the album was.

Anyway, listening to an all time classic:

I've listened to Strawberry Jam 3 times, I think - I don't like MPP more than Strawberry Jam because it's more accessible, which it definitely is. On Strawberry Jam I really liked For Reverend Green, Cuckoo Cuckoo and Chores. Derek was great too. Strawberry Jam has a more spontaneous feel, I guess you could say, but MPP is full of amazing songs. I don't think it has a track that feels slightly filler.

As for Fall be Kind, that one is awesome as well. It does have a more autumn/winterish feel to it, like the band said in an interview. It sounds more stripped-down than MPP too, I don't know if it is (as far as electronics go), it sounds like it though.

Have you listened to Panda Bear's Person Pitch yet? Fantastic record. One of the best albums of the decade, I think.

I have, though I haven't completely grown into it, I can say that it sounds like a very solid record. ATM, It is a bit sugary for me, but I can see it as a "album for driving". I've only listened to the whole album in entirety just once. Bros really stood out to me.

BTW I've finally listened to Plastic Beach twice and I can safely say that it is Gorillaz's best album to date. Sure it doesn't have the catchy singles, but as an album it is better paced and unskippable from start to finish.

Best Tracks are White Flag, Empire Ants, Rhinestone Eyes, Superfast Jellyfish, On Melancholy Hill, To Binge and Cloud of Unknowing. Bobby Womack sounds ace in every track he is in.

Awesome indeed, seeing them live in 2 weeks:D

That's great, hope you have fun, they're one of the best bands I've ever seen live (in my Top 3). I'm seeing them again, on the 10th of April. Really looking forward to it.

I found this in the box of CDs my parents don't use and scolded them. Then hated them because they didn't have Dark Side of the Moon when they said they did >_______________________<

That album cover of Lil' Wayne says it all, really. A bling-ified Christian cross and an electric guitar. Does a Christian point of view really influence his "bitches and hoes" based lyrics, and is there honestly a real instrument in that record even once?

What a fucking poser.

The entirety of Breaking Benjamin's discography back to back with Ill nino's. They sound very similar and Ill Nino sing in spanish. It reminds me of home. :)

Uh huh. Even if there is a real instrument in the record, I highly doubt he played anything, and EVEN IF HE DOES, I bet it's some unaudible, unneccessary, easy-as-shit rhythm guitar or something.
