It's kind of hard to explain in brief... In the "Bleach" anime, there is "Soul Reapers", which keep the world safe from corrupted souls, or "Hollows", and help the innocent souls find peace. Ichigo, the main character, has become a soul reaper, and eventually has too take up arms against the Soul Society, which is where all the soul reapers, and the cleansed souls live. After a long road of hardships, he's later given a badge from one of the captains, which labels him an official soul reaper. The skull is the symbol on the badge that he was given.
