Png is fine, but on a technical scale Jpg is more or less the same. If you look at Markers boxes thats how he saves them as.
Do not use Gif or Bmp.

If you save in JPG in photoshop... a pop-up box appears, I would save as Quality 10 or better. 10 seems right for me -- balance in file size and image quality. ;)
ie. My "Street Fighter IV" box is around 2000px square and saved as JPG and only 1.2meg in size, while LadyKiller's DMC4 is slightly bigger in size (I think mine is taller because of the added disc) and is saved as PNG, but it's 5.5meg in size! ------ I'm only thinking of Reed's server space... and speed in loading up! LOL
JPG is for photo images, so does not have transparencies... so if you are going upload renders for peeps.. save as png.

PNG boxes seem to have the highest quality of all.

well everybody else says PNG so I guess, that's the best one.

Jpeg deteriorates the color red.
BMP eats away memory because of its large file size, and 99.9% of the BMP files were made on paint.
GIF only supports 256 colors.
PNG is lossless, crops down filesize, and it is the best image file to choose.

Avoid GIF and BMP images at all cost!
JPG and PNG are best.
PNG has ultra-high quality, but the file size is larger.
JPG has a smaller filesize, but the quality isn't quite so good.
