I've started sign-ups, and I've put you four on the list to start.
I'm waiting for 16 participants, and that's probably the limit I'll go to, because that allows for four rounds. 16 > 8 > 4 > 2.

haha, i've already made a box for school.

are we going to have to make 4 boxes, 1 for each round? i havnt joined any competitions before so im not sure how they all work.

First round: 16 competitiors split into pairs. The two create a box on the given criteria and the winner goes through to round 2. In Round 1 there are 8 matches (16 competitiors paired up...)

Second round: 8 competitiors, split into pairs. Again, in each of the four matches, the contestants create a box on the given criteria and the winner goes through to Round 3.

Third round: 4 competitiors now. The two winners out of this round go through to the final round. The winner of this wins the competition!

No. You make your own individual box, and you're trying to make a better one than the person you're against.

For example:
ROUND 1 - make a box for an action film

1) We both make our boxes, and send them in [to me, because I'm running the competition].
2) I then post a new thread titled something like [i]TCM's DVD Cover Comp: XxDunexX vs. TheCodeMaster[/]i.
3) Other people go on to it and vote for their favourite.
4) The box with the most number of votes at a given time or the first to a specific number of votes (usually 7 or 8) wins, and goes through to the next round of the competition.

In Round 1, there will be EIGHT matches like that (above).

In Round 2, it is the winners of round 1 that go head to head, and so on... and so on... until the final which is just two people who have managed to fight their way ALL THE WAY THROUGH and they go head to head in a final showdown!

I would love to join but I almost always epic phail when I make a movie box. The only time I made one that I liked, it was because it was based on a game so I just used material from the game :P (Uncharted)

I think i'm going to do a box for the compeition this time. I just got a demo for CS2 and it pretty good.

I might have to make one, but there's not much to it really. Only the back has anything particularly important on it. The front is usually just the cover, couple of film studios logos.

Does it really matter if there are two competitions going on at the same time? Am i the only one who has time to make boxes ;o I say you should start it NOW! :)

Personally, I think we should as well. If people are dedicated to competition box making, then it should be fine to run two competitions at once.

As VGM's comp doesn't seem to be box making, but more logos, temps etc. making boxes for this comp at the same time should be great fun!

I want to know from people whether I should start it:
1) Right NOW, as in TONIGHT (Wed 13th Feb)
2) When the final boxes have been posted for the WinterFest final
3) When the winner of WinterFest has been announced

I think it's best to start now. Ayron won't be here for a while, so it'll be weeks before the WinterFest boxes are posted.
