Hello Everyone,

I self-manage a small and independent game publisher from home. We publish shareware games and puzzle games online. I am looking for a volunteer graphic artist who wants some experience and a work reference to basically take already created illustrations and text and put it together as a video game box cover.

So basically all the text work and graphics work is done you would be just putting it together into a box template, creating a box image for display and in some cases creating just the game logo.

Contact me at info@fragraid.com if your interested.
Thank you.

Hello guys, we got a few people interested but no serious help just yet.

Contact me at info@fragraid.com if you really want to do some of our covers, (very rare)your cover may actually end up on Wal-Mart or Bestbuy across the world! If it does we will compensate you.

Please remember we are actually a company so you do have to sign a NDA agreement or if you don't want to you have to write us a letter that says you will not share the game information and game art we provide you to the public. This is for your protection and ours. The artwork is not ours we just publish and distribute the games. The game developer owns the artwork and if somehow (rare) the artwork is leaked the developers can sue us.

As before we can offer you some good experience and a reference and if some big retailers actually pick up our products we'll definately compensate you.

Thanks all.

Smells like BS to me. Any professional wouldn't go to some message board and offer a job to whoever's interested. They'd go through proper steps to hire a professional graphic artist, I imagine through some sort of agency or resume website.

Could just be me, though.

It's not just you, but I'm willing to give this guy a shot.

First off though, if you "publish shareware games and puzzle games online" then I'd like to see a URL. I tried fragraid.com (I figured that would be the most likely considering the fact that your E-Mail adress is from that domain and is the only info about you we have) but it says the domain isn't registered. I want validation of this company even EXISTING before sending you an E-Mail. How do I know I won't just get a crapload of spam and maybe even a virus in return for my interest?

Secondly, if absolutely ALL the images have already been created ("all the text work and graphics work is done you would be just putting it together into a box template"), then what's the point? Are you too lazy to just put them in a template? Or do we actually get to CREATE anything?

Lastly; "in some cases creating just the game logo." So how often can we expect? If you have the title, text, and graphics all done, why don't you just take the designer who made that stuff (or even your COMPANY'S logo) and make them do it. Not that it wouldn't be interesting to be the one to do that stuff, it just seems a little fishy that you wouldn't have thought of that already.

If I get good answers/responses for those questions/statements, then I'll believe you. As professional as you can sound, scammers normally sound professional, so I'm inclined to trust you about as far as I can throw you (and I'm a terrible athlete on many accounts). But then again, maybe your responses will even work the other way around. Maybe it will become obvious that this is a scam (like the E-Mail I just recieved about some coal miner in Africa who wants to sell me some gold he found while digging *rolls eyes*) and the administrators can take care of this. Either way, I look forward to your answers.

I would've tried out for this, but when I learned there was a contract involved, and then this and that, and all that legal stuff I decided not to.

I guess it's acceptable that you have to sign a non-disclosure agreement especially if the artwork isn't theirs...

I've done a couple of graphics stuff for games years a go although I didn't have to sign anything ;)

I converted the background graphics/big bonus animation graphics for the original Street Fighter for the ST/Amiga/PC for Tiertex/US Gold and also started doing some graphics for a horizontal scrolling shoot'em up which I stopped doing since the company wasn't paying me/didn't have a publisher/I had to commute by train every couple of weeks to meet up.

However... I got into the first by chance as one of the programmers went into the same computer shop as I did and manager of shop knew I was good at art ... and second was by someone in a computer shop that knew someone looking for an graphic artist and I got chatting to him! ;) ---- so hanging around computer shops does pay off sometimes - LOL

Sorry, I didn’t think this would be so controversial? But what kinda scam could I possibly conducting for video game box art? Anyways the illustrations and images are generally developed by the developers and usually are their legal property – hence the NDA. The NDA protects us the publisher and the artist, its just unfortunate a lot of artists on this site are under age that’s why some people have been alittle frustrated.

Yes we don’t have a full-time graphic artist a lot of people involved are ill qualified to assemble proper box images, integrate logos and fine print onto the illustrations. Why we are asking for “help”, this is a help forum right? Logo creation is 50/50 sometimes the developer provides it sometimes they don’t, we have no control over it. We’re also trying to keep the developer happy – they don’t want us hacking the game image. It’s not easy we’re trying to keep all sides happy – this includes meeting graphic requirements of the retailers to it’s a jugging act.

Unfortunately our company site is not up and we can’t give out information until the NDA is signed it’s a catch 22. We aren’t officially public we will be shortly. We are a federal incorporation.

Hope this quells some of the skepticism going around we are a small, independent publisher conducting much of our business over the net. We genuinely are looking for skilled help. If we have a successful launch with our products there is no doubt we will compensate all those who helped.

Regards,
Silentcity

Yep, also this board is not for advertising offers.
