Some people want a remake. Some people think the idea of a Final Fantasy VII remake is bad. Why? "People won't appreciate the original!" It's like saying Advent Children was bad. It was a movie sequel, come on! Everyone knows that isn't true. In my opinion, I would personally love a FFVII remake. I mean, just think about it for a second. If Square kept everything the way it was except the graphics (which would be revamped at 1080p), added a fully orchestrated soundtrack, high quality voice acting (in my opinion, Square Enix should use the voices of Advent Children) and a battle system with the style from FFX, man. They could actually have themselves the killer APP of the century. What I don't want is a remake in 10 years (20th anniversary). Some people, like me, can't wait that long. Especially if your a Square whore.:p By then, the PS5 would be out! Probably the system will be a freaking virtual reality machine. So tell me what you think. Sigh. Sadly, its not like Square Enix won't be making a remake anytime soon, at least, not in our lifetime.:(

No because the game is classic and a game like this should not be remake. Remaking this game would be like remaking The Godfather or 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Also most remakes suck just like Conker: Live & Reloaded and Psycho (the 1998 remake).

P.S I did Leave, but I come on periotically. Also i had to post in this topic when i saw it!

yes, i'd like to see a remake, I never got to play the original game and last-last-gen graphics, no voice acting and all kinda turns me off. I'd like to see it in 1080p beauty :D

some remakes are good like Warhawk (PS3), Final Fantasy III, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Don't forget about Metroid: Zero Mission and Resident Evil Gamecube, especially Resident Evil since they got rid of the horrid voice acting that took away the serious tone of the original, and rerecorded the vocal tracks in a more grammatical tone and a much more serious tone. I'll compare:

Original:

"That was close! You were almost a Jill Sandwich!"

Remake:

"At any rate, you could've been squashed down like a sandwich!"

That differnet because Resident Evil wans't voted the #1 game of all time on a lot of Video Games web sites. The Game is a ture classic and remaking it would be a very bad idea just like when they remade Godzilla back in 1998. Final Fantasy 7 was a amazing game with amazing music, revolutionary gameplay and great character development. If you play like Final Fantasy 7 in 90's like i did, it was a game that blow people away and you can't do that with games like that anymore ;). The reasson why you guys want to see a remake because all you kids (I'm assuming you'r kids) out there never play the game back in the 90's.

Why not put the orginal Final Fantasy 7 game on the PSP or something just Sqaure enix did with Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 2.

P.S I did leave but i got a e-mail send that i got a PM from AB. So i login to see what the message said and i feel like posting in this topic as well.

It would kill the original game... I don't want to play any remake in 3D or anything else. Maybe They should just put it on the playStation Network.

what about Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider? those games were some of the best PS1 games ever made and the remakes were great. FF7 is a very good game but it is very overrated, ONE of the best PS1 games ever but definitely not of the the best games ever. Super Mario 64 DS wasn't as good as the original due to the crappy controls but it was still a fun game.

Square Enix isn't dumb enough to pass up a money making opportunity like a FFVII remake. The original game kicked ass. All it needed was a stylish execution. Then that would be great.

Think about it for moment. If Square kept everything charming that made the original great, some better graphics (which would be revamped at 1080p due to the power of the PS3's graphics engine), high quality voice acting, realistic facial expressions, an orchestrated soundtrack, and a battle system with the style from FFX, woo. That'd be the greatest game on this planet.

Plus, Final Fantasy VII is the only series having sequels and continuing on different platforms. Crisis Core, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus are all good examples. And Ratchetcomand, I can't believe you don't want a remake.

Id rather have a sequal as well. Considering ive already played FF7 I dont need brand new graphics just to play the same game I played years ago.
Id rather have a new engrossing story, and fresh gameplay; I dont see how its a crappy idea.

This sucks so much. Now I know. Square Enix was using Final Fantasy VII as a way to show off the PlayStation 3's graphics engine without any freaking intension of making the game... the bastards. Looks like Square really is dumb enough to pass up a money making opportunity. :( All this was just an advertisement. At least that's what I think it is. I mean, why can't Square Enix remake the damn game already? There's nothing wrong with remaking a classic! They're really just beginning to tease the crap out of us now. In the secret ending of Crisis Core, it showed sequences of the technical demo back in 06. At the very end, it said "To be continued in FINAL FANTASY VII". I don't know if that meant to go play the original again, or if that indicated Square is working on a Remake.

Everyone loved the original. It became the new benchmark for RPGs. Personally, I would love a remake. It would be awesome for a remake to happen, especially with the graphics we have nowadays. That would be any role playing gamers dream. Of course, everything will look a lot nicer, but if people have never experienced the original, then this is their chance, and Square's perfect opportunity. As long as it keeps the originals charms, then I'm satisfied.

One thing that is getting my hopes up, is that if you think about it, Square really might be remaking FFVII. Why? So far, they remade Final Fantasy for PSP, and Final Fantasy IV for the DS. Plus, VII is the only game in the series to be spawning sequels. Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, FFVII: Advent Children Complete. So I don't see how the chances are slim to none.

EDIT: Good news!

"FFVII Remake Possible If Development Schedules Open Up

This month's edition of Official Playstation Magazine has a small follow-up to the interview they had last issue with the director of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core; Hajime Tabata. Quite a lot of the questions actually revolved around the Final Fantasy VII franchise though, rather than Crisis Core itself.

It is worth noting that when asked again about the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake, he said:

"The possiblity for a remake may become greater if, for instance, the schedules of the original members of the Final Fantasy VII development team, such as Kitase and Nomura, open up"

So development of a Final Fantasy VII remake could possibly start after the completion of Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII?"

I think that'd be possible. But don't bet on it being anytime soon... it looks like we'll be waiting some time for FFXIII/vXIII, and I'd actually rather have Nomura do KHIII first, but any time is good for me. I still need to play the original (finding a good-condition cheap copy with less than 20 people fighting for it is harder than travelling to the Sun in an airplane) and people have been selling old copies for high prices since ebay began. I walked into a store once and asked if they had any copies of FFVII, and the guy said "Sorry, not now, but I think we might be getting some stock on Friday" and 5 minutes later another four guys asked him the same question >_o

It'll probably take two years after Nomura is done with FFXIII/VXIII! I can't wait that long! Ok, maybe I can. Ha ha ha. I wonder how they'll recreate Aeris' death scene... must be an extremely hard thing to do.

Maybe.;) I can't wait that long though. But I just know it. Square really is remaking this game. You can already tell.:o

Last year, in an interview to Famitsu, Hajime Tabata, the director of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, clearly stated that it's just a matter of time until the remake of the original Final Fantasy VII starts. The staff of Square Enix don't intend to start the project now because of the many others projects they're currently working on (Final Fantasy XIII/Versus), but the remake will definitely come someday. My hopes haven't gone down, yet.;)
