I think he means 'rendering' or cutting images.

If you want to cut something out (or "render" it, they're pretty much the same things) the Create and Edit Paths button (it's the "B" key, on the keyboard) is the best tool to use. To use it, you simply need to click around the object you want to render, and then double-click on the tool button on the left tool bar, and then select "Create Path From Selection".

I hope that helps. :)

you then have to cut out whatever it is you want to render.
The best way to do this is to first get your selection down, then go to Select - Invert to reverse your selection, and then delete everything within that selection. (Ctrl+K on my computer)

you might just have to go back and do some clean-up on the render. Use the same technique with the little bits.
Also, it's best if you feather the selection at least a little bit.

Oh, i see what happened.
Before you cut the picture, you need to have a transparent background behind it.
Just create a new layer, and make sure it's set as Transparent. Then go to Dialog - Layers and move it below the original picture.

Sometimes you can't move the new layer below the picture, so what you have to do is simply duplicate the layer you want to cut, and then either delete the first copy and move the transparent layer behind the second copy. Or you can just use the eraser tool to get rid of the picture, but keep the layer.
