Yes. Anything from Tony Hawk to Fight Night to Bass Fishing and 1080 snowboarding will count as a sports game. If you are wondering if your game is a sports game, check IGN. I go by whatever genre they have listed for the game.

I must say designing some "espn...blah 2Kblah blah" box is the last thing on my list. That's not to say I hate them or that they're not fun, but I play sports in real life, so I almost have zero sportgames in my game library.

can we make up our own game? I have a killer idea. It is kind of a made up game, it's based on an existing game but on a different console (like a "Mario Baseball DS", for example).

you and Hawpoka have both improved incredibly.

People, please check your genre's before you put so much time into your boxes. I will be looking at IGN to see what genre they say the game is. If you submit a box that IGN says is not a sports game, you will have to gain more votes to win.

no, racing it's a genre on its own. it might be a sport in real life, but in games its a seperate genre.

I looked at IGN and thought it was OK. Just because the genre doesn't say "sport" doesn't mean it isn't. You used Fight Night as an example but IGN have put it under "Fighting" not "Sport". You said Bass Fishing but IGN have put it under "Hunting" not "Sport". Explain please. Plus you told Vengence it is ok to make up a game which won't be on IGN at all.

Yes. And fishing is also a support.
I don't understand why IGN is holy, they don't pinpoint details on genres that well.

I saw Fight Night Round 3 for Xbox 360. It was called a Sport game. I saw a fishing game, don't remember the title, but it was listed as a Sport game. Vengeance is perfectly fine with making up a game, as long as it is a sport. He submitted his box, and yes, it is a sport. Racing has it's own separate genre on IGN. I use IGN because I have not played every game. I do not know the details of every game. I chose IGN because they do it for a living, whereas other sites, such as Wikipedia are editable, and are prone to the opinions of everyone. At least with IGN it's the same five or six people's opinions every time.
If you want to know what genre it is, look on IGN. That is what I will be going by. You are welcome to use whatever site you want as your source, but I will be basing your required votes for the contest on what IGN says.

Koopa I think you've made a mistake and ADFD's box art should count. Racing fits into the definition of sport even if ADFD's is based on a fictional one. The dictionaries' definitions are more important than IGN's classifications.
