I'm hosting the next competition which is going to start on November 23rd, 2007! Hopefully, I'm not Interrupting the OctoberFest competition, since it'll probably end in about the end of october or beginning of november.

Anyway, I'm hoping some of the users on this site will join this competition.



Rules:

1. If you are suspected of cheating in any way, you will be disqualified.

2. If you fail to submit a box by the due date, you will be disqualified, otherwise if there are bound to be problems.

3. You may not submit a boxart you have already posted on this site.

4. A vote must have an explanation, it cannot be like: "I vote for number 1 because it looks better." Describe the advantages!

5. You may not bash other people's boxes for no apparent reason. You will be disqualified if you do not follow this rule.

6. You may not start FLAME WARS!!!!! A flame war will result in an automatic disqualification to anybody involved in one. If a person tries to flame on purpose, ignore the person, and he/she will be disqualified, while you stay safe.

I resigned from the contest because I had seen the rounds ahead of time to make the banners, and I did not want to have any sort of advantage.

CM took my place so there wont be that 3-round thingy. I have also offered to help with the contest as much as possible :)

I really don't like it. The competition rounds are difficult to load enough, without added imagery (I know. I had a 56 K connection during the summer competition, and it took forever to load the banners and boxes. I personally would prefer that you just let the boxes speak for themselves. In the OctoberFest, I've had to shrink down a large number of boxes, just to get them to fit on the site. And when I do that, I have to post the high-res link. With 33 people in the WinterFest, you're going to have one hell of a time keeping track of high-res links, as well as shrinking down 33 boxes. Keep it simple.

I also think the whole send in with transpearent thing is very unneccesary. some people who add backgrounds to there boxes do it to fit the box itself, sometimes boxes without backgrounds just dont look as good with with them, even it's all about the box itself, also i dont really like the display cases thing either, at first glance i thought it was a fish tank -_- (sorry) ,but i think they arist should make them like they want, untainted. it is a nice idea though ^_^

Actually, i was just randomly choosing numbers from my head, It was when i checked the calender that i found out that the 27th was a weekday, so i chose the date in which the holiday season starts; Black Friday. I'm off from school on Thanksgiving weekend so i thought it would be a great idea to start the competition in which everyone here won't be at school, and parents spend money on early holiday shopping in which most stores open at 4 am.

The competition will start hopefully at 6:01 AM est on Black Friday.

Then what I'm going to say is then you'll have until [insert random date] to finish your boxart and submit it. I'll often give you a week after you come back from vacation to finish your boxart. However, if the boxart isn't submitted by the delayed deadline, then the person will be disqualified.

My point was that innovative rounds can cause a fuss, for example I think some individuals would prefer it if there's not a round for film covers because in a way they would've been mislead.
