View Full Version : Bumping old boxes

I've noticed recently that certain individuals have been browsing through old boxes and bumping them, critisizing them for the use of outdated material. examples are Lodo's Splinter Cell Conviction box and my Ratchet & Clank Future box (as lord arcanus). Browsing through the box archives is completely acceptable, (In fact it's kind of encouraged) but just a reminder - please check the date of the box before you decide to comment saying "that's the unnofficial logo", "that pic is from a different game" etc.

Also, just another few pointers when bumping old work;
- Check who the artist is. Some of the older artists (Pre-2006) probably won't be here anymore and/or don't make boxes anymore and/or have been banned etc. Just remember to check who you're looking at, because if you give them some criticism chances are they won't see it because of the above reasons.

You know who you are - if you're doing this, i'd read through this and take things into consideration when commenting on old work. :)

With all due respect

I know exactly what you mean. My first box ever was Final Fantasy XIII (oooh, brave) which I created on 3rd September 2006. Then someone posted on it on the 14th April 2007, and by that time I'd made loads of better boxes like my Prince of Persia one =D

you can make a box on here m8 and within 2 days it can be old if noone comments , there is that many boxarts gettin uploaded and pushing the good new ones out of site , there should be someway of been able to see artwork created in the last month so peoples hard work don't go missed without having to search old archive , ive seen boxes on here thats fairly new with like 5 comments but if i didn't search then would have missed it bloody good art too hof worthy , so to all of the guys that bump there work because they feel its not been fairly judged ie not seen because idiots with spam/shit covers have bumped them off i say bump bump bump , i no its against the rules but some people actualy take alot and i meen alot of time on there work and for a pillok with a 30 min cover to nock him down just aint fair.

( just my opinion guys , don't cry and start bitching at me )

I think one of the reasons there is a rule against people bumping their own boxes is because there was some people who used to do it every minute, and it was quite annoying. Also I do think that it'd be nice if some users considered the date, and what materials were available when they bumped someone else's box.

i'm not talking about boxes that don't have enough comments. I'm talking about boxes that were made months/years ago, and people bumping them saying things like "thats the unnofficial title/logo" etc.

I agree about bummping old boxarts. I'm tried users like Tikicobra, who bump boxarts and say stuff like "No official temp". He thinks we are some time travels and we get stuff that dons't come out yet.

giving this thread a bump (oh, the irony) because i've noticed people are doing this more and more and more, and it's really starting to get annoying.

READ THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU BUMP OLD BOXES

think i'm gonna need to give this another bump, people aren't noticing this and we're still getting stupid, outdated bumps.

Read the site rules- particularly the second sentence of #5.

I understand that, and I know it's completely acceptable to bump an old box, but it's when the user makes an outdated reply like "that's the unofficial logo" or "that pic's not from the game" when the box is made weeks, sometimes even months, before official material is released.

I agree with what's stated. Especially for Brawl boxes. People would put Sonic on there and others would yell at them for having Sonic and then some person would post months later after Sonic was announced and yell at the people who said no Sonic!

I agree wholeheartedly about people bumping dated boxes and then commenting on the material being old, that's moronic. However, I hope none of you have a problem with genuine comments on archived boxes, as this is something that I do fairly regularly and have no intention to stop. Though I would like to start checking to see if the artist is even still active or not, I forget to do that.

it's completely fine to do the latter, my only issue is the former.
