I know that most of them suck. That is why I asked to come up with good ideas of how videogames can be translated into movies and how you would do it if you were in charge.

Story:

Mother tells the story of Ninten, a 12-year-old boy who journeys around the world using his psychic powers to collect eight melodies in order to save the planet from an evil race of mind-controlling aliens. Along the way he is joined by three friends; a young boy tormented at his school for being a genius, a girl whose mother mysteriously went missing, and a gang leader whose parents were murdered. They meet many unusual characters and visit strange settings before ultimately confronting the leader of the aliens, Giygas (known as "Giegue" in the unreleased prototype).

Ninten's power, PSI, was utilized by an alien race that abducted George and Maria, his Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather. George stole the secrets to the power while living among the aliens, and upon his return to Earth attempted to research it further and spread the research. Of the four playable characters, Ninten was able to learn it due to being the grandson of George, while Ana had developed her PSI powers on her own, and became famous for having done so.

Though George and Maria were not mistreated while in captivity of the aliens (due to taking care of one alien named Giygas), Giygas sought revenge on George for stealing the secrets of PSI, and subsequently launched an invasion of the planet Earth.

here's an idea, how about we leave the games alone? Movies based on games aren't any good anyway. They do a good job in raking money at the box-office, though they kill the franchises in horrible ways.

And games based on movies aren't any good either. (except Goldeneye 007)

I don't know... There are a few video game-adapted-movies that I like. The Resident Evil movies were intense, but they weren't great altogether. But I like to look at it this way, if I have a craving for two things, when one of them in a video game movie, I look for a video game movie (that isn't directed by Uwe Boll, I might add) that includes the other thing I'm craving. So Resident Evil would be for intense action. Silent Hill may be for horror/gore. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children... Just because it may be the best one out there! (Too bad it never came to theaters...)

I'll come up with one of these sometime soon.

Albert Wesker:Neal McDonough
Osmund Saddler:Tobin Bell
Bitores Mendez:Steve Austin
Ramon Salazar:Martin Klebba
The Merchant:???

The Soundtrack:
All music would be original. Like the music in Silent Hill and for more fighting/intense scenes I would use music like in the Saw series.

Probably the best casting so far, in this thread. I only feel Zhang Ziyi is a bit short to play Ada, but 6+ inch heels would do the trick!

I'll probably write my own casting choice for MGS, later on.

no, just no. The Rock would seriously ruin that movie, he wasn't that great in doom and he sure as hell wouldn't be good in Gears as Fenix......
had to point that out.....

Well i coun't think of someone to play as Fenix.

I like your idea for the movie but the movie is not comeing out in 2009 (In a recent interview with IGN.com, Hideo Kojima confirmed that the movie will be released in 2008.).

It was 2008, but pushed it back to 2009. Because Sony have no writers, producers, cast or director picked for this movie.

Are you sure, i hear that Hideo Kojima is going to be the drector of the flim and just because there writers, producers, cast or director for the movie that dons't mean it not comeing out that year (There is a lot of movies comeing out in 2008 with no writers, producers, cast or director so far).

I think we will see some info sometime this year at the Tokyo Game Show or sometime after MGS4.

Either way, I'm not cumfortble with Kojima-san's choice for snake, Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale. I think Eric Bana would make the perfect Snake.

I think Eric Bana would make the perfect Snake.

i agree he would be better than the others but if i was to cast a game-made-movie i would probably choose mostly unknowns.

i think these would make interesting movies:
beyond good and evil
bioshock
shadow of the colossus (a foreign film, but a more verbal and deeper story would have to be written)
god of war
prince of persia (but i think they're already making one)
and maybe metroid prime, i'd be afraid they wouldn't get it right...

Those would make good movies.

Prince of Persia is been made at the moment, produced by Jery Bruckhimer, expect Pirates of the Carribean style action.

But not too happy at the Metroid Prime movie. Might be another Doom (hate the movie but loved the 1st Person View sequence).

If it'd be in my power I'd make Christian Bale Snake and JC Denton.

The guy knows how to eat a snake (cue rescue dawn) and Equilibrium was basically the Deus Ex of movies.
