well, i'm just taking a guess, first get the logo you want with a background, most likely black, then go to blending options and select color overlay, then make it white, next cut out the white letters, then create a new layer behind the logo with the black background, then on that layer place the picture you want and move whereever you like, an alternate step is when you have the white logo, save it as png then open it up again, and then cut it out and paste the picture, i've never done that before so thats the best i got

1. Create a type Layer
2. Above the type Layer create an image Layer
3. Move the cursor onto the Layers Palette so that the cursor is on the line between your type Layer and image Layer
4. Hold ALT (you should notice the cursor has changed) and click the Left mouse button
5. You have now created a clipping mask
Doing it this way allows you to reposition your image without the worry of redoing everything the previous posters said.

Why making a mask when its easier to...cut holes? Takes 10 seconds, really.
You cut holes in ONE layer. So, you can move any layer under black layer. If you need to move completed logo - just lock the whole pallet and move.

Using a layer mask is the simplest and most effective way of doing it. Pressing ALT and left mouse on the layers palette to create the mask is just as quick.
