Rules for Round 1:
Title- Any
Console- Any
Genre- First Person Shooter, for example Half-Life, Doom, Crysis etc also Metroid Prime counts.
2D/3D- Any
Front/Full- Front
Other- Every picture must be edited by you in some way. It cannot be Halo 3.
Boxes due by 12:00AM Midnight 11th June. Send me your boxes in a PM or send it to theelectricgeneral@hotmail.com
Second chance
Everyone has two chances. If you lose a round, you will go against other losers. If you defeat all the other losers, you will become the "never gave up champion" and you will be pit against the normal champion and if you win, you will become the "The comeback champion" and the winner.
Additional rules
If you do not obey all the rules for round one, you will have to earn more votes.
This competition shouldn't last much longer than 5 weeks and there will probably be around 5 rounds.
Update: Due to changes, the deadline will be extended until Midnight 11th June, please send me your boxes ASAP.

Also the box art you make must not already be on your page. It must be a box designed for the competition.

This is supposed to be an easy round. If you think your box is better with a back, then you can have one when you add it on the main part of the site. Just stick with the front please.

I talk to EG on AIM and you can....you can make a made-up game, a fake sequel or prequel or a collection....but they have to be related to FPS. plus games similer to Metriod Prime series is ok too.

If you're uncomfortable with your opponent, please tell me who you'd like to be against.
I didn't think it was unfair putting a very talented box artist against Icarus-Flight. I said the people I choose would be based on skill and they are, the 'skill levels' label was just an idea I took away because I think it overcomplicated things, but the spirit is still there.
I don't think it's hard to make the box itself because you have a lot of choice, it can be anything that ranges from Duck Hunt to GoldenEye 007 to a satire, as long as it's in first-person view and you shoot things, I'd probably take it. It can be a made-up game too.

I do not know why at you imaginations suffice only on Half-Life 2 and Halo. I know much FPS is my favourite genre:)

Yes they're allowed, I think it would be going too far dissallowing an entire franchise.

Sorry but I say no because it's good as a surprise. Although you can ask for people's advice using instant messaging or other sites, I have no control over them. :p

I think you should be able to ask for people's advice over PM's or IM, but you shouldn't be able to ask people who you are against or are affected by your round (e.g. if you win, you face them, or vice-versa) because they could tell you to do something to do your box that could cause you to lose.

Question - By FPS are you referring simply to a first person game (like Oblivion) or does it need to be a shooter. I ask because I know people who called Oblivion an FPS because it's first person O.o
Also, are we allowed to use templates that others have made or do we need to make our own temps?

Can we do King Kong? The parts where you are a human (majority of the game) was an FPS however not when you were Kong (which was a very short part of the game).

dude , the 9th of June is my birthday so i won't be available to sent my box.
Alright guys, stop it, srsly.
One says that 9th of June is his birthday and he would not be able to sublit his box. Are you being serious? Its almoste 5 days till 9th of June. You can make, like, 10 boxes during that time, you don't have to do everithing on the last day.
The other says, that he is too unproffesional, asks for a weaker opponent. Hey, you signed for this comp, you have to accept any opponent. What would you do if you would face me or Mad Spike (if he would compete) in the finals? Ask for a weaker opponent?
Then, KoopaDasher complains about the theme of this round. You dont like FPS? Fine, don't play these kind of games. Bot it's not so difficult to make a boxart for a game.
Thank you Feed, I agree with you. When I decided the matches, I chose them with other members on AIM and I looked at all their boxes. I was being fair as I can.
The boxes people have sent me already are great, keep them coming please.

EG, do I have to post my box again? With the front only, the normal Wii template, or can I stick with my WiiHD template?

Yeah just send me the front Icarus, also you can use what templates you want. I prefer the normal ones but it's up to you.

in other words I'm using my birthday as an excuse ? no you're wrong i said sent and not make , it well only take me 3-4 days max to make my box art,and then trying to improve it even more ., i said that day i won't be available so ill try to sent it on the 8th instead , i never wanted to change that date i was only informing him that i won't be available on the 9th.

My computer has been fucking me over for months now and it is getting unbearable. Reformatting in a few minutes. Should have everything working fine and dandy by tomororow morning but I am known to run into issues...soo....yeah. I should still be able to make deadline though. Just a heads up in case I miss it (which is very doubtful)

Fixed my computer. Will be reinstalling Photoshop tonight (gamestop had a buy 2 used games get one free sale so I am kinda preoccupied with gaming :p) and get working on my box :)
I'm loving the boxes you have sent me so far. Just reminding you to send the rest before midnight 9th June. Remember if you're a bit late, I'll let you off but that doesn't mean hours late.

Technically, it is. It's first person and involves shooting something out of a gun, so yeah.
From wikipedia:
The player manipulates objects in the world in order to hunt for Elebits, using the Wii controller as a "capture gun" similar to the Gravity Gun in Half-Life 2. As the majority of Elebits on a given level are hidden within or underneath objects, players must interact with the environment to reveal these hidden Elebits. Throughout the game, the Wii controller's motion-sensing abilities are gradually introduced. With selected objects, players turn, pull, and wave the Wii Remote to perform a variety of actions including opening a door (twisting the doorknob), pulling out drawers, turning on a faucet, tossing a variety of items, smashing vases against a wall, etc. Moving the Wii Remote without selecting an item rotates the player's camera-view, while the Nunchuk is used to move, duck, and stretch.
I've never played Half Life 2 (for more than an hour), but if I remember that is also an FPS and the core gameplay of Elebits is to hunt them - thus using the gun.

yupyup. Never played it (want to rent it, i've heard it's one of those rental games, not something to buy) but nothing I've read or seen screen shots tell me otherwise.

I just didn't like it much. FPSs aren't my favorite genre by far, they are all too similar. Unless they innovate. That and my PC could hardly run the game :p
I'm still lacking a few boxes, but not that much. I can understand that people may have been distracted by the current changes of the site, or are confused because the site was down today, so I've decided something.
The deadline will be extended until Midnight 11th June, please send me your boxes ASAP.

Half-life is worth to die-for ;) im gonna upgrade my PC Graphic card just so i could play episode 1 , the cliff-hanger ending of Half-Life 2 is making me excited to see what happened :D
