I have a question. How could you get a sort of background eraser in GIMP? I have played with the Erasrer opacity but nothing works. Also, how do you print gradients into the image? Thank you to all who help!

I'm not totally sure what you mean about printing gradiants into images, but you can lower the opacity and put it over the image.
And by background eraser do you mean erase the background, cause you can select the bottem layer and erase stuff, or do you mean erase it so the background shows? Because you can erase before you anchor it.

For a gradient, just get select the tool, got to the image and click the image and hold it down and move the mouse to where evr you want it to go.
