dude.. you can use paint, but you'll suck!
photoshop works best.

use photoshop if you can. you need to learn how to use it but its definately the best program. its also the only one ive used, but ive done just fine with my boxes, and thats the only program i used.

photoshop or gimp is the best way to go. I use the CS2 version of photoshop and it isn't giving me a hard time making boxarts

You can try Paintshop or Corel Photopaint.

believe it or not, back when i joined i used to use Microsoft Publisher :o

it's not a terrible program, but you shouldn't use it because it makes your boxes look bad. it was actually pretty easy to use and had quite a lot of the gimp/photoshop features, but do not use it.

I used Gimp now, of course.
