So, what do you guys think of the new series, that theme tune was horrific.
Pretty cool though, besides that.

Agreed, the first episode of the new series was fantastic, it seems like Tennant's been gone longer than 3 months as Matt seems quite happy and the role suits him alot better than Tennant at first, it took me until the 4th or 5th episode to like tennant, but i already like how Matt Smith is portraying the doctor.
Oh, and next time Matty, LOOK FOR THE TREE.

The attempts at humour are excruciating to watch, none of it is even remotely funny. The special effects look like they were made in the 80s and the acting? Let's just say I've completely given up on the show.

Somehow the new series is 'watchable', but as a teen that grew-up loving the first three series', and has an ambition to become a film director (hopefully :D) some day (i'll die trying), Dr Who has gone downhill, alot, they can't get good sfx, really don't like some of their acting (but i pass it, because i think that it's acceptable for a children's show), most episodes seem 'cliched' to me, having that actress as River Song ruins it for me, she's far too good to fit in, hate how they've changed to 'hand-held' cameras for some episodes (just looks stupid, and only works on action films etc.), can get a bit repetitive, episodes not as entertaining as they used to be, but i can still watch them...

Series 6 is by far the best series of any DW previously. Matt Smith had definatly grown on me a lot as the Doctor. Amy still kind of bugs me because I feel like she doesn't teach the doctor anything (Rose, Martha, and Donna were crucial human compontets to the Doctor) Amy just feels like she's there traviling with him to just look sexy in a skirt. Though I do fancy Rory a bit he is very funny. And don't get me started on River, god I love her but I wanna know who the HELL she is and who she killed!? It's driving me crazy!!!!!! Lol
Anywho, I love the Silence, very creepy but I felt that *spoilers* killing just about all of them in the first episode was a little rediculous lol *end spoilers*
All in all I gotta say that the Doctor needs a new companion more akin to Rose, she was just perfect. It's a shame we'll never see Donna again and Sarah Jane (RIP Liz Salden) will never go on a adventure with this Doctor ever. Also Captian Jack still has to meet him!!

Well what i have disscussed with some of my friends, and some of my family is that...
(Guess what?!) - SPOILER: Amy is having the Doctor's baby, somehow... The baby is half-human, half-timelord, the positive/negative shows that it is neither possitive nor negative, nor in any time, but in two-seperate times, therefore been in some Quantum thing (Don't really know how to explain it), the baby is born somewhere in the future, the baby turns out to be the girl that regeneratedin a previous episode (And is the baby girl on the picture with Amy, as her parent) my friend said that she had disscussed it with her dad, they came up with most of it...

Very good episode overall. Fleshed out the story quite a bit and I enjoyed it. The one thing that bothered me was the complexity of the plot about Amy's pregnancy.
I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum in white (Highlight if you want to know):
Basically, Amy turns out to be flesh and the doctor discovers that she's in fact pregnant and sonic's her until she turns to goo. Then it turns out she's in a space hospital with a woman with an eyepatch overlooking her leading to the series split finale.
I'm confused as hell. How the hell did she end up on a spaceship? How did she turn out to be flesh? Why is the new series so damn confusing????

I guy called The Doctor goes back and forth through out time defeating aliens with his companions which change from season to season. His time travelling machine is called a T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimensions in Space (I think)) and it looks like a Victorian police box. When the Doctor dies he can change into a different doctor (This is mostly die to the actor stepping down from the role). I could go into more detail but you said brief.

I think it's because of all the colorful suited aliens while the newest Who episodes have had some pretty scary ones like the Silence or the Vampires or the Flesh. It's a nice change, definitely.
Also, as to the major plot twist at the end of the last episode: I'm pretty confident in saying that Amy was taken in the 3 months time between Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. That may be why they didn't go into detail about it, and why Amy doesn't even bring up the pregnancy after Day of the Moon, even though she specifically states to the Doctor: "I'm pregnant." The reason she forgot she was taken probably had something to do with the Silence.
TandyQ

Definitely agree that it's a nice change. I can't wait to see what happens in the episode and who "A Good Man" is. My prediction is Rory.
As for Amy, I definitely agree that she was probably taken during the 3 month break. It makes perfect sense in terms of the plot. I can't wait to find out the details, the who and the why of her kidnapping, and how her time-head/time lord regenerating child fits into all of this.

Also I tuned in 3 minutes late (Just as the opening credits rolled so I missed the pre credits sequence) and I think I missed the Cybermen. I thought they would be in it a bit more...
It's a two parter, with the second part titled "Let's Kill Hitler" (best episode name ever) coming in September.

In school today, we got a project in philosophy, where we have to dress up as a philosopher, and give an interview as that philosopher. Tennant had those four specials though. I dunno his seem to have lasted a lot longer then Matt's. And I agree, Eccleston was awesome but it was HIS decision to leave. Funny thing is, they could ALWAYS bring back Paul to portray the 8th doctor and have him do some stuff!

So series 7 starts filming today! Here are some confirmed details!
• There are two confirmed writers (well, three if you include Steven Moffat) and they are both veterans of the show: Toby Whithouse (previously responsible for “School Reunion”, “The Vampires Of Venice” and “The God Complex”) and Chris Chibnall (“42”, “The Hungry Earth”/“Cold Blood”).
• Saul Metzstein, whose previous credits include Micro Men, is the first confirmed director, though Richard Clark (“Gridlock”, “The Lazarus Experiment”. “The Doctor’s Wife”, “Night Terrors”) has hinted via Twitter that he is involved once more [via Blogtor Who].
• Whithouse said at the recent SFX Weekender that his episode was planned to be third in the running order, and that it is “one of the final ones” to feature Rory and Amy’s departure. However, separate reports have suggested that Moffat will write their final episode, so it seems likely their departure will form a mini-arc. Karen Gillan has called the storyline, “the best ever”.
• According to Doctor Who Magazine, Chibnall’s episode will have one of the biggest sets ever constructed for the show [via Whoniverseblog].
• In Doctor Who Magazine, producer Marcus Wilson promised there will be two monsters from the “classic” series making an appearance.
• Alex Kingston may well be reprising her role as River Song and Murray Gold remains the composer [via Blogtor Who].
• There are unconfirmed (by the BBC) reports that Mark Gatiss (“The Unquiet Dead”, “The Idiot’s Lantern”, “Victory Of The Daleks”, “Night Terrors”) will be returning to write for the series (well, he’s said he is, so it’s highly likely!), along with John Fay, previously responsible for scripting parts of Torchwood’s Children Of Earth and Miracle Day.
• Shooting starts on Monday 20 February, with Matt Smith indicating that it will continue until December. The 29-year-old actor commented that there are “four or five scripts which look in really good shape.” He also teased us with some casting gossip in early February: “I found out a lovely bit of news this morning, about somebody who’s going to be in it. I couldn’t possibly tell you, but it’s exciting. You’ll know him. Or her.”
• According to CastingCallPro [via Doctor Who News], actor Rob Cavazos will have a role in the series, with his entry stating: “currently filming a role in Rush, a new feature written by Peter Morgan and directed by Ron Howard, followed by an episode of Doctor Who. Further to this, his agent Shepperd-Fox Theatrical Agents report in their latest news that he “shortly flies to Spain to play Walter in the new series of Doctor Who.”
• Transmission details are still, of course, TBC, but an autumn start is predicted. If the series is still shooting in December it seems impossible that it will be transmitted in one chunk – a gap in transmission seems highly likely. But how big will that gap be? Will there be fewer episodes transmitted this calendar year than any other when the show’s been on air*? (That looks likely.) Will footage shot this year in part be for the 50th anniversary programmes in November 2013? Or will cast and crew return in early 2013 to shoot more? Will Matt Smith do any more Who after December? Will the Christmas episode be a standalone “special” episode or will it just form part of an overall season arc?
Woho, there was a thread for this?
I never knew.
I just started watching the new series (2005 and onwards)
I just started at the third season and don't like Martha Smith at all just yet, although Tennent as the Doctor is far better than Eccleson and I don't want him to change to Matt. He looks sick.

The waiting is the only thing that is killing me. Here in Canada, the Space channel has been fortunate enough to air the entire series (2005) once a week. However, that is not enough for me. I need more "Doctor Who". This show has taken over my life. My only problem is that no stores near me carry the Classic series, so I have been obtaining those serials through "Other means" that will not be discussed here. Other than that, I have been following the series 7 trailers quite intensely, trying to identify every little thing about them.
So, season 7 is planned to start being broadcasted this month! I thought it'd start later this year. Does anybody know a date?

Pretty much this. It was a great episode. Lots of drama and edge of your seat suspense. Probably my favorite Doctor Who episode with the 11th doctor. And all I gotta say is poor Oswin. That part and when Rory and Amy were talking to each other I actually got a little teary eyed!

Interesting. I'll just watch the whole series rather than skipping anything, I guess.

It starts today? Hell yeah, motherfucker. I had no idea.
Watch the episode "Blink" from Season 4. If that doesn't draw you in, you might as well give up on Doctor Who.
Or just stop being Ronthis. That's most likely your problem.
Blink was actually in Season 3. ;)
How can television bore you? You can't be telling me there are no televisions shows you like? If it's the ads then BBC has minimum ads, just before and after a show, no interruptions.
I just can't follow a television show anymore. I think it's just the format of episodes.

I am sure everyone already knew this, but the read-through for the 50th Anniversary was today. Tennant and Smith will both be in the special, and it looks like it's going to be Fantastic. Two Doctors, maybe more, one special. My mind races with what they could pull off.

I have a strong feeling in my gut that this will turn out to be false. It's Moffat we're talking about, so even if it is true, there's a good chance that now it has been revealed, they'll scrap the idea of the story in favour of something else. There are too many references to Matt being the 11th Doctor, which means that this just doesn't work. I cannot see John Hurt being the Ninth Doctor, but perhaps he is a Doctor from a later incarnation, OR he is playing The Valeyard, which to those who don't know, is a dark version of The Doctor between his 12th and 13th Regeneration. As well, I feel this twist may have been "Leaked" to gain hype for the show, but I cannot see it working. At all.

Well it did say that he mentally blocked out his 9th incarnation (if this turns out to be true) But it couldn't be the Valeyard just yet. considering this is only his 11th regen (officially)

True, but The Valeyard is also a Time Lord, meaning he could travel through time, and that The Valeyard could be from an earlier point in Time than his original appearance in Classic Doctor Who. The thing about this show is that most of the time it doesn't need to make sense, simply because of the time travelling. My theory about it being the Valeyard from an earlier point could be plausible because meeting him in the past means it is a fixed point in his past, so the Current Doctors cannot truly defeat him now, but simply push him back until The Doctor's first meeting with him. It's a bit confusing, but hey, that's what makes the show.
Who knows, though? For all we know, all this speculation could be for naught, and could mean squat. I just hope they do it right, because that's all that matters to me.
Saw Season 7 Episode 1 of DW yesterday.
What the fuck just happened? Not saying it as a bad thing or a good thing, just legitimately confused.
Keep in mind that I have no prior knowledge of DW.

The show is very confusing if you know nothing about Doctor Who, so don't feel bad if don't get it right away. If you feel this is a show you want to get into, go with the always recommended episode, "Blink", found on season 3. The aforementioned episode is always a good Jumping-off point, as it stars Fan-Favourite Doctor, David Tennant. If you watch "Blink", and want to get into the show, it might be best to watch the first season for a back-story. However, The Doctor of Season one, Chris Eccleston, is only for that season, so seasons 2 to 4 are all David Tennant. I personally love the show, but it isn't for everyone.
As for the episode you watched, it probably wasn't best to jump in with that one, as it requires knowing the back-story of the characters, which isn't best for new viewers. Like I said, don't feel bad for being confused, as it can be very confusing. I do recommend this show to anyone who will listen to me rant about it (Static can attest to this), and, if you want to get into the show, just go with "Blink" from Season 3.

It raised more questions than it answered for sure. And it throws the timeline into disarray. Now the 9th is the 10th, the 10th is the 11th and the 11th is the 12th but is the real 9th the actual 9th or is he the 10th because there was a 9th before him?
I am all for complex plots but there were no endings here. The Great Intelligence's master plan was to "invade the Doctor's time-stream" so he could destroy the Doctor's existence... but he could have his Whispermen stop the hearts of everyone in the room, yet he did not think of this when he had the Doctor right where he wanted him?
The Great Intelligence lacks Intelligence. Should call itself The Great Imbecile instead.
Then, once it was in the Doctor's time-stream, did it not think someone would go and stop it? I mean come on! For a great intelligence it's dumber than When Harry met Lloyd.
Then of course it introduces John Hurt as the Doctor in the most cheesy way imaginable. The Doctor's name is spoken off-audio/off-camera by the ghost of his former companions' daughter, AKA his freaking wife, which unlocks his gigantic TARDIS tomb so the Great Intelligence can go and make a great screwup.
Oh and need I forget that this was supposed to be the reveal of "The Doctor's Greatest Secret". What? That he has an evil alternate regeneration that he forgot about that actually killed the Time Lords and Daleks in the Time War, then got shot and regenerated into 9 (sorry, 10, maybe 11, not sure anymore). Like seriously, WTF?
The cliffhanger too, AAAAGHHH. I hate cliffhangers, and now we have to wait 6 months until November 23rd for the freaking 50th Anniversary to get another complex plot that will likely be solved by someone... crying.
Moffat's show-running is god-awful. His story arcs never wrap up. Example: Angels Take Manhattan. Rory and Amy can never see the Doctor again because of the Weeping Angels time locking Manhattan in the 1940's, so why the hell did they not just walk to New Jersey?
Seriously, with the way Moffat pens his stories I'm surprised he ever got a job on this show. Nothing makes logical sense anymore. And again, when the hell did the Sonic Screwdriver become Harry Potter's magical wand?!

Stop at The End of Time. This NuNuWho doesn't make any frigging sense.
I'm still befuddled as to what the hell I watched tonight. From an entire series being a fairytale to an entire series revolving around the death of a robot to an entire series leading up to the reveal of a name that never gets said to a girl crying the monsters away...
This show now exudes the very definition of the oldest word in the universe and that word is: WHAT?

I still stick by my theory that this John Hurt "Doctor" is actually The Valeyard, as that makes a helluva lot more sense than any other theory I've heard up to this point. I mean, Clara even said "You're the Eleventh Doctor", which means that even if this John Hurt version who just magically appeared is a part of The Doctor, he would be the future incarnation, The Valeyard. It's either that or that he is the Final Doctor, and the only reason he knows who the Final one is is because he met him as the Tenth Doctor, and he (The Final) did something so horrible that he had to be stopped by both Ten and Eleven. I really hope I am close to right, as I will take anything but having the Regenerations thrown completely out of whack. I don't want to sound like that hopeless fanboy, but that is the one thing I CANNOT Stand for.

Don't listen to that man. Watch Past The End of Time and watch until now and form your own opinion. During Matt Smith's runt here has been alot of good episodes that outweigh the bad. I mean of course there are some bad episodes but there were alot of stinkers during the Tennant era too.

So really Clara isn't all to special she was just in the right place in the right time. Whatever companion went with him to Trenzalor would have been the companion to go back into his time stream and save him. Clearly though it was just destine that it was to be Clara. I don't think it really raised more questions then is answered. At this point it's still doctor who?
John Hurt could be the Valeyard but I doubt it. Im voting for the really "9th" doctor. Since the the Doctor didn't consider that regeneration to be a Doctor it would make sense that he just locked him away in his memories. The Doc has shown from time to time that he feels great regret for what he did in the Time War. So many deaths and he feels personally accountable for them all. But from his view its very much "kill a few save the entire universe" sorta deal. I remember the Tenth Doc saying that at the time of the Time War the Time Lords turned into more heartless beings or something like that. So it would make sense the the Hurt Doc would feel bad for having to effectively kill all the Time Lords and feel bad about it but it was something that had to be done in HIS eyes. Hell even 11 agreed with him but still didn't condone the actions.

That'd make no sense because Matt Smith's doctor wouldn't know who Hurt's "doctor" was. Peter Davidson didn't know David Tennant's doctor during Time Crash, but Tennant's doc knew Davidson's doc.
Hurt is 8.5. He came in-between McGann and Eccleston, fought the Time War, killed the Time Lords and Daleks and became known as The Valeyard (which actually means Destroyer of Worlds See Davros' quote in Journey's End). So yeah, you were right about the Valeyard but wrong about what version he was.

But it really doesn't.
Like I stated there 11 Doctors. 11 doesn't consider Hurts to be a doctor therefore he isn't number as one. I mean we know The Time War happened but other then that we don't know about what really happened during it. I'd hardly say that the timeline is out of whack. Really it just messes with his Regenerations which I think Moffat will mess with so we can have more doctors. I always thought when River game up her Regens they would go to the Dr. But who knows. I guess we gotta see what happens. But again I'd hardly say the timeline is messed up when it isn't.

11 Doctors, 12 Regenerations, 1 Genocidal Nutjob.
I'm not really pleased with Clara saying "I saw you. All 11 of you" wich, technically means Smith is the last Doctor. Sure, they'll probably ignore it, but it feels like a dumb blunder.

She just didn't see any future Regenerations. Just his past ones considering that what the GI was trying to destroy.

I'd rather not start coming out with Crackpot theories, so this'll probably be my last post on the topic for awhile. However, I had a thought about the John Hurt Doctor. What if he's not the "true Ninth" Regeneration, or whatever you guys are calling it these days, but is actually an accelerated aged Eighth Doctor, fresh from the Time War? I know it has been said that Time Lords don't age, but regenerate, but what if that actually means they don't age according to Human standards of the sense? I mean, the First Doctor wasn't always an old man, so he had to have been a child at some point. I propose that this John Hurt Doctor was the Eighth Doctor, the same one who fought in The Last Great Time War, and because of the effects of the War, he was aged faster than usual, just before regenerating into Eccleston's Ninth Doctor. What if the Fiftieth Anniversary was the final adventure of this Aged Eighth Doctor? What if the last scene is him regenerating into Eccleston, but they cut it before his face can be seen, but we hear Eccleston's voice? Would that not make a bit more sense than just throwing the Regens out of order?
I would love to hear what you guys think of all this, especially with the theory I presented you with.

It's an interesting thought, and you're not alone thinking it, but I reather believe in the theory of him being the regeneration between eight and nine. That feels like it'd "change the way Who is seen forever" or whatever they said Hurt would do to the series. I also kinda like the idea of it, Smith being the twelvth or even thirteenth regeneration, although being the 11th Doctor.
