I'm still thinking of what characters to put in the little "featured character" squares like those seen on the Melee box (and several fan-made Brawl ones as well). Obviously Snake, Fox, Yoshi, and characters like that will be on there. More questionable characters are Sonic and Wind Waker Link. I've also got to throw the Wi-Fi Connection logo on there. =P

Yeah, true. But it does fit in pretty well with how the Melee box looked, and it's the only group shot out there.
All you did was take a screen grab and slap the logo on; its looks polished though, just unoriginal and not very creative yet oddly even with that I still like it, it clean, simple, and catches the spirit of the game.
It’ll be good if you tried to be more original in future.
But your style seems very familiar for a new guy….

To be fair, there isn't a terrible amount of room for creativity when all I've got are a few grabs from the trailer and a couple of pieces of character art. I suppose I could make a character art collage, but looking through the gallery I see that's what almost everyone else did. =P
You could have tried something a little more original with the template like a different kind of shape or a lack of blue slot.

It’s the unoriginality that takes away my enjoyment of the box, I’m just expressing my view on it with even the character collage thing that has been over done on this site and it’s still a really obvious box to make

and Ninty would have a standard of that is less obvious and its good to obey the parameters and not use the firsts patch of screenshot they released as cover art you should know, the box may not be unoriginal in the way the boxes have not been done like this that much before but its obvious and too unoriginal in creativity and principal, its doesn’t do much unique and special, its still awesome, god knows why I talking about creativity so much. I've given my self a head ache.

Ha, I've gone a bit above and beyond what I started with.
Behind the Smash Bros. logo is, on the left, the huge fireball attack Mario performs, and on the right, Samus's massive charge shot. I'm probably going to add some explosion effect where they meet later, but it still looks pretty cool right now.
I've added four of the little "featured character" boxes, though they're more trapezoid shaped than square. The Melee package has five on each side, but they are smaller. Also, there were a lot more characters introduced in Melee than we know about so far in Brawl.
As for the template, I'd love to do something different with it, but Nintendo's design philosophy has become really minimalistic as of late, and while I realize this is all unofficial, I'd like it to be able to be mistaken for something official. Nintendo has generally displayed the Wii logo as grey against a white background, something I've copied here. The blue disk is meant to be kind of like the blue slot on the Wii. White and blue really are the colors for the Wii, so I try and reflect that.
Though I have been thinking about trying something black... but even that's been done. =P
EDIT: One change I've made since this is switching to the "bright" logo, so don't comment on the dark logo in this one. =P

I swear, I've never come here before. I use this name at several other places. I'll admit, WickedGamer's Wii template was what made me think of mine though.
Oh, and see attachment.
