I'd much rather they didn't. Pokemon Yellow sucked. It was nice that it was more connected to the anime (rather than the anime being loosely based off the games) but having a Pikachu (which I don't think you could evolve?) was simply a giant pain in the ass. As I've stressed before, the first gym leader uses Rock-Types and you're stuck with an Electric pokemon (that, at the time of fighting Brock, can only learn a couple of electric attacks, the rest being normal).

He could evolve, but then he would stop following the player. I also thought it was a great challenge, as it encouraged me to catch and train more Pokemon.

Also notice shortly after chickorita (SP?) uses cut, you'll see two different gym like areas. The first one (with all the lava) I'd be willing to bet is blackthorn, however the second one isn't very recognizable. Thoughts? Theories?

July 4 isn't only Independence Day, it's also the day pre-orders for Pokeémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. We previously posted a blurry magazine scan of the pre-order goodies, and here's a crystal clear pic.

"In Japan, those pre-ordering Heart Gold will get a Ho-Oh figure, and those pre-odering Soul Silver will get a Lugia. Pre-order both, and you'll get a Arceus figure. The games are bundled with a pedometer.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver are DS remakes of Pokémon Gold/Silver and are slated for release this fall.

The first details from this month's CoroCoro have been revealed on serebii, though not officially confirmed, we can hope it's true.

* Eusine from Crystal appears in the story based on the Legendary Beasts.

* The level 1 Dialga, Palkia & Giratina know Metal Burst, Hydro Pump & Shadow Sneak respectively

* There are 9 new touch-screen based mini-games

* It is also said that Latios, Latias & Mewtwo are available within the game

* Ho-oh and Lugia will both be at level 45.

* The red Gyarados from the lake of rage is indeed included.

Yesterday, I was thinking... this game will be the first Pokemon game in which we can have the full 493 Pokemon on one cartridge without hacking... right? (via migration/trading from Firered/Leafgreen and Diamond/Pearl, respectively) I assume there were some Johto Pokemon that you couldn't get before this/since the original G/S?) So... what do you think they'll do next? I doubt they'd make another generation of Pokemon (and I hope they don't) and it's too early for a Ruby/Sapphire remake.

Why in the world would you NOT want more Pokemon? I would LOVE more Pokemon. Have you seen some of the custom Pokemon some of these fan games have made? They're amazing! We need more Bug Pokemon, more Flying Pokemon, More Fire and Dark and Ghost and Poison Pokemon... I want to be able to make a GOOD team of whatever type I want. Have you ever tried playing that way? Like a gym leader? It's really cool... just picking a type and making a team for it. I did it with Bug and Water... really fun, challenging part of the game.

I know, but, that's mainly because some of the Pokemon of the most recent two generations were kinda lame, and some unnecessary and were only really for filler purposes. We have almost 500 Pokemon now... I think that's enough. I guess it would be a good way to increase replay value to the series... after all, it's "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" and having more would only add to the challenge, but I think 493 is enough. It's not like it's already easy to complete the Pokedex... I've never done it, the closest I ever did was on Emerald where I was about 20 off, and that's JUST the Hoenn dex.

I agree we need better Fire pokemon (there was like, what... five Fire pokemon in the Sinnoh dex? That includes evolutions, mind you, so technically, only two families of Fire pokemon), some more unique Flying pokemon (not a generic bird pokemon you find at the beginning of the game... I want a fucking two-headed Eagle or something cool like that) some better Electric pokemon, some Fighting ones... but really, it's just Nintendo's fault for making nothing but generic Water, Grass and Psychic pokemon rather than making something new. But now that we have much easier access to Johto pokedex, and in turn, the ENTIRE Pokemon catalogue, we can make more unique and effective teams rather than everyone and their brother having a Staraptor simply because there wasn't anything better.

Yeah... I really want better birds, something less generic than Pidgeot and Starraptor. I mean, Starraptor was great..probably my favorite bird so far... but I want some variety. We have Skarmory... he's cool, but I would like more. Something elemental, and not a gimmick like Chatot and Farfetch'd. I want some really, awesome, powerful birds. Non-legendary birds. And bugs... MAKE HERACROSS EVOLVE ALREADY!! He's STILL the best there is... that's an issue. Give us some fire-ant cannon guy, or a really big fly like a snorlax of the skies.... I really want to see a bug Pokemon that doesn't evolve at level 10 and doesn't suck. Heracross, Scyther, Yanmega, Drapion, etc... more like that.

And I want to see another Type added, as well. I can't imagine what it would be, and it would almost certainly have to tie in to the storyline, but I could see: Light, Cosmic, or Virus being possibilities. I would like to see more Pure Ground, and more Pure Rock types. I would like to see Fighting used more often as a secondary type. And I want to see Dragon actually become a type that you can get BEFORE Victory Road!

God, I wish Rock Smash wasn't both such a vital on-field HM and an incredibly shitty battle move. You can't survive without it, but it fucking sucks... it has what, 15 Attack power? You can smash open a fucking boulder with it to clear your way, but it barely hurts a Lv.15 Starly...

Agreed. I wish HM moves didn't suck. Strength and Surf are pretty good, and so is Waterfall, but the rest are terrible, especially considering you can't get rid of them easily.

As for the future of Pokemon, I want some handheld games that follow a more Pokemon XD/ Colloseum type plot. It manage to create an interesting twist on pokemon we already knew, while not being cheasy and ad. It would also be great f we could interact with pokemon more, (i.e feeding them different types of food to raise their overall performance). AND ADD IN SOME MORE BADASS-EVIL GANGS FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!

See Pokemon Colloseum, and DeFog pretty much replaced flash.

@Koopa: Well, yeah, but Rock Smash was basically inneffective against EVERYTHING. It's like, think of Rock Smash compared to a move like Hi Jump Kick or something, as you would compare Tackle to Body Slam.

Well, that's what we have the battle tower for :P (No matter what you say, I still think that tower next to olivine is the battle tower.)

...So...do any of you think Kanto won't be as bad as it was in the second generation? One of the main reasons Kanto was watered down in generation 2 was because of cartridge space, but the DS surely can be capable of handling 2 full regions with no crap like "LOL THIS CAVE CONTAINING MEWTEWO COLLAPSED SO TO BAD FOR YOU LAWL". I hope Gamefreak makes a full kanto without any of that BS that happened in G/S/C.

Another thing, who else felt that the Elite 4 in G/S/C were pushovers? The champion had 3 dragonites, a Charizard, Gyarados, and an Ayrodactyl if I recall correctly. The highest leveled was a level 50, and all of his pokemon knew hyper beam. A 8 year old with a feraligatr or another water or ice type can come in and sweep him with Ice beam. I would love if GF would up the E4to atleast levels 55-60, and maybe have Red's pokemon in the mid-80's and 90's.

Well, my original estimate was:


Japan: Late September to Early October
America: Mid to Late April
Europe & Austrailia: Between Mid June and Late July

While you can see the other ones clearly, well not really that clearly, but they are still obvious who they are. Some Japanese readers on Gamefaqs have been saying that the name under the blurry figure spells "Mewtwo". It is possible that mewtwo can be in (Maybe in cerulean cave? I mean, Gamefreak has no excuse to make a half assed Kanto again, so they might as well make mewtwo available where you find him in RBY and FRLG.)

Moon being shortened (I think it got shortened, I can't remember), Cerulean cave collapsing, and all the other stuff. It would be nice if we could actually have a decent Kanto and not the GSC Kanto in which you can finish in 30 minutes.

Okay guys, some guys on 2ch got the game early, and they are slowly giving us more info.

-----SPOILERS-----

Legendaries in the game:

Ho-oh - lvl 45 at the Tin tower in HG and lvl 70 in SS. You must have the gold feather in order to encounter it. You get the gold feather after defeating team rocket or in Pewter city depending on the version.

Lugia - lvl 45 at the whirl islands in SS and lvl 70 in HG. You must have the Silver feather in order to encounter it. You get the silver feather after defeating team rocket or in Pewter city depending on the version.

Suicune - Suicune is seen in the following places and you must follow it if you wish to capture it. First, it will be found in the north of Cianwood City. After you encounter it there, you will shortly find it outside the entrance of Mt. Mortar in Route 42. Once you find it here, it will leave Johto and head to Kanto where you will see it in Vermillion City soon after you arrive. Next you will see it in Route 14 where it will escape for the final time to be found outside Bill's House in Route 25. This is where you battle Suicune.

Entei and Raikou - Both beasts will be roaming after encountering it in the brass tower both at lvl 40.

Articuno - Will be in the seafoam islands and at lvl 70.

Zapdos - Will be outside the entrance to the powerplant at lvl 70 (So the Power plant side quest is still here :D)

Moltres - Will be in Mt.Silver somewhere before Encountering Red. Will be lvl 70.

Mewtwo - After you complete a fair amount of the game, Mewtwo will reside deep in Cerulean cave.

Weather trio - Kyogre & Groudon are both available within this game. To access them, you need to obtain the Blue Orb if in Heart Gold or the Red Orb if in Soul Silver. These orbs are found from a man in Route 27 after you have obtained the National Dex. With these orbs in hand, you need to head to a cave in the new area west of Cianwood. Traverse the cave and you will find Kyogre if you're playing Heart Gold or Groudon if you are playing Soul Silver. They are at Level 50 so be prepared. Unlike Lugia & Ho-Oh, you cannot get both Pokémon in one game so you'll have to trade to get both. If you have both in one cartridge, you will have to talk to Oak with both in your party and he will give you the Green orb.

Dragon trio - If you bring over the special Arceus given away for the 12th movie, you will unlock Dialga, Palkia or Giratina. This is done by going to the Shinto Ruins, hidden somewhere in Johto with Arceus on your team. You will encounter Cynthia who will tell you that Arceus has the ability of creating certain Pokémon. These Pokémon are Dialga, Palkia & Giratina. You have a choice of the Pokémon you can create but you can only create one so choose wisely. They are at Level 1 and are holding their respective orbs so you won't have to worry about their strengths.

Latios and Latias - When you have obtained the National Pokédex, both it and Latias will begin roaming the land of Kanto. Following the same tactics as before, you should be able to narrow them down. He is at Level 50 so be prepared.

Johto Gyms:

Falkner - Falkner will have a lvl 9 pidgey, lvl 7 Hoot-hoot, and a lvl 13 Pidgeotto. Falkner will reward you with TM51 and the Zephyr badge.

Bugsy - Bugsy will have lvl 15 Metapod, lvl 15 Kakuna, and a lvl 17 Scyther. w00t? He will give you the hive badge and TM 89.

Whitney - Whitney now has Lipstick on? Yay? Anyway, she has a lvl 17 Clefairy, and a lvl 19 Miltank of doom. She will give you the plain badge and TM45.

Morty - Lv. 21 Gastly, lvl 21 Haunter, lvl 23 Haunter, and lvl 25 gengar. He will reward you with the Fog badge and TM 30.

Starters:

You will receive the Johto starters, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Chikorita at the start of the game. It is rumored that when you get all kanto badges and talk to Oak, he will allow you to get a Kanto starter at lvl 5. It is also rumored that the Hoenn starters are obtained by visiting a person in Silph Co. in Saffron City after you have defeated Red. He will compliment you provide you one of these Pokémon. As with all starters, they will be at Level 5.

Red:

Red is indeed conformed, and as always is encountered at the end of Mt.Silver. He will have a SLIGHTLY changed team (If anyone gets replaced, it's either Espeon or Snorlax, so I don't think he gets a major change.)

American Release Date Confirmed

Once more, such a revelation is brought to us not by Nintendo, but by the stupidity of a retailer :P.

Amazon had been displaying a release date for the games today that was considered questionable until hi-res American box art for both games was revealed.

Said box arts appear to be being pulled at the time of typing, but at the current (as I am having difficulty ripping them) you can find them here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B002IFT2PY/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=468642&s=videogames) and here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B002IFT2Q8/sr=1-1/qid=1260583633/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=468642&s=videogames&qid=1260583633&sr=1-1). As you'll notice, the hideous American logos have sadly been retained; however, to my surprise, the beautiful Japanese box arts (which are in the same format as every other Pokemon game, and yet somehow look much better :P) have otherwise been retained, included the giant notice for the bundled accessory, just like for FireRed and LeafGreen.

Which brings me to the matter of the PokeWalker. It will, of course, still be bundled with the game, but there was a concern over whether or not the price would be raised because of it. Amazon, though it is currently offering a price the same as that of regular DS games (and please forgive if I am misinterpreting this), is giving the list price of the game as $39.99, meaning (again, if I'm reading this correctly), that the PokeWalker will bump the games' prices up five dollars, which is certainly nothing to get upset about.

I think I'm forgetting something...oh yes, the actual release date. North American gamers, expect this golden gift from the remake gods to be available in your country on March 14, 2010. The oddest part about this release date is not that it is much earlier than expected, but that Korea will be getting the game a full month earlier, on February 4th. However, since Korea tends to get the short of end of the stick even more so than Australia, let them have their month :P.

Also, though this is completely irrelevant to the matter at hand, when was it announced that Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth was being localized and released February 16th? Or did Amazon blow the lid off of that one too? :P

Well what i'm doing atm is giving all my money to my Mother.
Then just go on repeated suicide runs into the league.
Just go as far as you can without reviving/Healing your Pokemon. Then just white out and rinse and repeat!

okay, quick question. In the safari zone you can get a Gible but it says you can only find it after 100 days, and i don't really want to wait that long, so does changing the clock on your ds work or will i still have to wait 100 days?
