The idea for it came to me awhile after beating the Wii version of the game, I wondered what Amaterasu in her purest form would be, and then it hit me, why not cherry blossoms petals? They’re so abundant and important throughout, after all [and they’re pretty]. xD
The background isn’t mine, just so you know; it can be gotten at the end of the page here [link] (http://9tutorials.com/2007/08/23/decorate-your-dreamy-desktop.htm) Photoshop 7 wasn’t liable for that tutorial, sadly. And the Okami logo is from official sources.
The rest is all mine baby!
Now, the pose was drawn from observation from the Official Okami Art Book and used as a back structure for the piece. The petal trail [then un-blurry and without other effects] was done with one of the flowery brushes I had, and made up Amaterasu’s abstractly-looking body.
The petals were done and softly painted in Photoshop [there are 13 different stencils in all], and they total up around 500 odd altogether [I haven’t counted].
I personally think it’s one of the prettiest [and longest to make] pieces I’ve made, like, ever. I hope you guys like it too!
