Instead of white, consider making the background color dark gray or black to better match the background of the site. It should make your box come off looking better- especially if the background is exactly the same as the site.

But... take note that there's no telling if I may change the background of the site at some point in the future, so keep that in mind and don't take this TOO seriously. ;)

That’s fair enough, sometimes though it looks a lot more polished in white.
Should I go for grey as a compromise.

I'll re-submit.

It's just a suggestion, and something to consider- go with what you think works best.

And as I said, the site could always change later. Ideally anyway you should save the source PSDs of your boxes, so you could always change stuff like that.

I have another suggestion!
How about to make posible upload own thumbnails?
Imagine:
Actually, I hate the real size box art with the black background, cos it's looks real bad, I think. White color - the best, good contrast, etc... But with the white background, the Thumbnails looks very bad (
So how about the real size art will be with the white background, and the thumbnail picture will be with dark gray, the same as the website background (RGB 51 51 51).
So we will have tha outstanding look in thumbnail (and not a real size) menus! For an old-way authors there still will be a auto-resize function, but the author also can create the thumbnail by himself, what do you think?

P.S. Sorry for my english if something wrong, I am from Ukraine ;)

But own custom thumbnails would look dull on the main page, I like having a small picture representing the box and having sense anticipation but it would look boring of the front page, that’s what I think.

couldnt you just make the white transparent and upload it as .png
Which would solve all possible backround changes to the site.
