as much as Wii looks cool im gonna have to go with 360 good graphics reasonable price great console. Wii? O.K. graphics great innovation great price but games dont look so good so far. PS3 the worst copycat of all consoles with the two packs and the Wii like controller last the price which makes me want to steal one and throw it off the grand canyon. :)

its ignorant to say that sony are being copycats with the whole tilt control idea. if they wanted to copy nintendo, they would have. they simply implimented the same kind of technology as nintendo. Nintendo's Wiimote will take full advantage of the technology, sony isn't.
as for the "two packs" im gonna assume you're talking about the different pricing points for the console and how "microsoft did it first. wah wah". It's called a strategy. Microsoft didn't invent multiple price points, they did it first cuz they had to be first in the next-gen console wars this time, cuz they just couldn't wait to abandon the xbox.
Now personally, i would LOVE to have all 3 consoles, and i probly will have them all after some time (read: 20 years) and the order i'll get them in will be the same as last generation: Sony, Nintendo, then Microsoft.

personally, i like all consoles equally. It's only fair. Each console has a game(s) that i really enjoy. 360 has Halo, Prey, Gears of War. Wii has Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. Sony has Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and MGS. but if i could ony choose one, it'd be the 360, since it's the best FPS platform.:)

I will buy a Wii for the Nintendo’s big titles on launch, the cheaper choice and the new form of control.
I will buy a PS3 when the price goes down to buy MGS4 and Final Fantasy of course, different consoles for different tastes.

I think, hands down, Xbox 360 is/will be the best. Microsoft knew what they were doing when they released their system first; they learned from their mistakes. By the time the PS3 and Wii are released, the 360 will be settled in and it'll be easier for developers to develop games for. And to be honest, once Halo 3 is released will there really be much hope for Wii and/or especially the PS3? Now, I'm by no means putting down the Wii, I have no doubt it'll be THE thing to get during the holidays, and IT WILL sell. As far as the PS3 goes, Sony might as well start making a casket, right now...

1 and 2 didn’t uneven the competion's quality or goodness in the middle of this gen, so yes it is dumb to ask that considering not every one likes Halo and fps's and Wii offers different gaming experiences for different people and some who would’ nt normally play games and you’re be a Fanboy if you believe Halo 3 will really uneven the competion.

Hands down in terms of launch titles Wii has the best, Twilight Princess is looking better than Ocarina of time and its impossible for anyone to argue with all the pro critics around the world Ocarina of time is one of the best game ever, same with MGS. Plus Wii has a new form of control.

Well i like the 360 hands down....and for 3 reasons. One the online capability is one of the most important factors for me and sony has a long way to catch up with microsoft in that department.

Worst: PS3- ITS THE SAME DAMN CONTROLLER BASICALLY FROM THE PS1 GENERATION....WTF!!!....i hated that controller the moment i touched the xbox controller, nothing seems right (dpad not in the main spot, no triggers, wtf)....now that i have that off my chest....It also sucks because it does not have any rumble feature and tilt contol thingy is just a gimick, few games have been announced to use it, and IMO it probably would just be more frustrating then anything.

In the middle: WII- Personally i like to sit back and relax in my leather chair and play games, but thats just me. I still think that the contoller is very innovative and i know that a ton of people will love it.

Best: 360- The shoulder buttons ala PS but with triggers GENIUS, joysticks in the main position: check, rumble feature: check, and comfortable feel: check.

Worst tie: WII- Honestly i dont care for all of the 1st party titles (zelda, smash bros, metroid) although they are all probably great games i've never really gotten into them, so i dont konw what im missing. Other then that the only game that looks cool to me is Redsteal but i can do with out...

Worst tie: PS3- Alot of there titles are going to the 360 (its only a matter of time for final fantasy *talking about being realeased on both systems ala GTAIV*) but they still have MGS and Assassins Creed*see bottom

Best: 360- Has more then enough games that can hold me over....Halo 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Saints Row, GTAIV, Fable 2, Dead Rising, Resident Evil 5, Call of duty 3, Half Life package, F.E.A.R 1 and 2, Splinter Cell: DA, Rainbow Six: Vegas, BioShock, Huxley, and Assassins Creed*see bottom. Now i know alot of those games i meantioned are also coming out on the PS3, but thats the point why pay more money when you can get the same great game on a cheaper equally good console(power wise).

*Assassins creed is almost confirmed to come out for the 360...id say it has a 50% chance of coming out at the same time as the PS3 and a 50% chance of being realeased a couple months later. Dont believe me read this http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=24838609 and look at all the signs. There was an ad for it in OXM, gamefaqs has it up for the 360.....and Ubisoft hasnt denied it.

For me, it like this, I want all 3, here's why.:

Nintendo Wii

Why I want this: it's cheap, new controller, and virtual console (SNES and Sega Genisis on same system :cool:)

Games I want for it: Mario Galaxy, Metriod Prime 3, LOZ: TP, and of cource Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

What the downside of it?: it has the weakest graphics, but who care it's all about the gameplay.


Is it worth it?: Yes, cheap and has great games, you can't go wrong,

Sony Playstation 3

Why I want this: Great Graphic, Mulitmedia and it's an cheap Blue-ray player ($1,000 for those.:eek:)

Games I want for it: Metal Gear Soid 4, Grand theft Auto 4, Sonic the Hedghog and Kingdom Hearts 3. (you know it's going to happen, coming maybe in 2007-2008)

What the downside of it?: Pricey ($500 to $600 Pricey), No Rumble in Gampad (Only an weak copy of Nintendo Wiimote combined with the Duelshock), and MGS4 not lauch title.

Is it worth it?: Maybe Yes, If I have enough money to spend, Maybe No, If Kingdom Heart 3 doesn't come out ( I think not) or MGS4 is an Flop (Again I think not)

X-Box 360

Why I want this: Cheaper than PS3 and great online play.

Games I want for it: Sonic the Hedgehog, Grand Theft Auto 4, Gears of War, and Halo 3.

What the downside of it?: You Need an fan by it, so it doesn't over heat (My Bros has one, and he has to do that, so it doen't over heat.) and no good games right now (except Call of Duty 2)

Is it worth it?: Yes, if you like Halo and want an cheap option
of great graphics. (for me, not right now, by bros has one. so I get one when I move out.)

Conclusion, I getting all three (not at the same time:p) and will have fun doing it.

These are actually rare cases that get blown out of proportion. My 360 is in an enclosed space barely able to fit in, with a glass door shut in front (love them wireless thingys), and ive never had a single problem with it getting too hot. In fact i accidently left it on when i went to work and it was fine when i got home.

And i would say gameplay is everything....i would say 80% gameplay and 20%graphics (games are expected to look pretty now)

And the 500 or 600 dollar thing is stupid (just like the 360s) because you would be stupid not to get the 600 dollar thing (500 has no built in WiFi, smaller harddrive, and a few other thigns i cant remember)

Also, another downside cannidate for the PS3, the possible patent that doesn't allow you to play used, borrowed, or rented games; something that could (and would) destroy the console if it ever sees the light of day.

The fact that GTA and FF are on the 360 are the publishers fault they are the ones that allowed there games to be on the 360.

Final Fantasy and Metal Gear both started out on the NES, Assassin's Creed was also first unveiled at X05 under the name "Project Assassin" for the 360. You could call the games appearing on Sony consoles hijacking, but as treesquirrel mentioned it's the publishers decision to move a series to other platforms (and make more money).

To be Completely honest Xbox 360 is the best console because it has better exclusive games: Gears of War, Lost Planet, and Halo 3, just to name a few, and most of the games that were supposed to be exclusive for the PS3 are going to be on the 360.

Right on...I heard somewhere that the PS3 has to played on HDTV, if its played on a standard TV it is real blurry (text cant be read kinda of like deadrising on a standard TV) and the graphics suck. I would like to appologize in advance to those people who actually gave a fair and balanced synopsis of the pros and cons of the next gen consoles.

All that i have seen so far is roughly simmilar to "I h8 S0nY!!! WooH00 36o!!!"

First of all, why in the world would you dislike the PS3? I mean it is the most versatile out of the box(built in blu-ray disk reader saves buyers $400-500 right off the bat), has(admittidly arguable in some areas) the most powerfull hardware, and the fact that there are not many exclusive launch titles does not necicarrily mean that there will not be any exclusive monsters released later(MGS4). Now i can certainly understand being loyal to your favorite console but simply saying that there are no advantages to the PS3 is ignorant in my opinion.

Now I will point out some of the points i like about the 360. I would say that the super powerfull online support is its biggest plus. It has a well established online community. Another thing about the 360 I like is the fact that it did come out a full year earlier so programmers have had more time to learn to exploit more of the power of the 360. However one weak point that I will point out is the disc format of the 360... dual layer DVD. This allows for approximatly 8.5 gb of storage (as opposed to the 25 gb of storage available on a PS3 blue ray disc) which I beleive in a couple of years will really be the biggiest limitation to the 360.

Now I guess I will do a brief synopsis of the Wii(might as well). The Wii is unarguably not for everyone. That being said I think it will still do fairly well due to the fact that you really can't get this kind of gaming experiance anywhere else. It is sadly underpowered(IMHO), but will still have decent graphics and some killer titles (LOZ:TP).

Anyway you can take this as you will because this is of course all my opinion, but just a suggestion? Its really not very intelligent to say that one console is better than the other just yet because they do all have some strong points.

Lastly I would like to say that I think that the 360 will do better at first untill more and even better games come out for the PS3, then I honestly beleive that the PS3 will leave the 360 in the dust.(Whew!)

The thing is, the PS3 really only has MGS4 on the horizon. Jak hasn't been announced, Ratchet hasn't been announced, Sly Cooper hasn't been announced, its only MGS4, GTA 4, and Assassin's Creed.

With the 360, you have GTA 4, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Halo Wars, Forza Motorsport 2, the next few games in the Gears of War series, and possibly MGS4 (this was discussed on a seperate topic. It is a rumor, but 360 people have hope).

And lets not even get started with the Wii. Mario, SSB, Metroid, Zelda, and all those classics will all be on the Wii.

What it really comes down to is the PS3 is mostly hardware, not enough software.

the PS3 is almost like a blu-ray dvd player that can play games as a bonus. it's more of an entertainment system than a console. it's like the 360 being able to play loads of media stuff, (DVDs, CDs, etc.) but mainly plays games. For the PS3, it's like the other way round.

Having owned all four consoles from the last generation, i'm pretty sure i'll only go with two of the three this round.

Xbox360 is the most appealing to me right now as it has a great library and a bunch of titles that are coming in the future that i'm interested in.

The Wii has the franchises i grew up with along with the Virtual Console to get all of the old games i miss playing. What's stopping me from getting it is that the motion sensing seems gimmicky at the moment and i'm not too sure that anyone outside of Nintendo will come out with a game that fully utilizes that feature to it's potential. I also feel burned by the N64 and Gamecube due to a lack of a decent library. Sure there were some AAA titles but the drought in between releases was a bad thing.

As for the PS3, i dunno yet. I love my Final Fantasy's and MGS's but the steep price, arrogance and broken promises seem like a slap in the face to their fans. It's like they turned into the 90's Nintendo with their cockiness. I wouldn't mind so much but the way their PR runs damage control is sickening. Here's the most recent:

Not difficult to do when no one is buying it. Poor Phil Harrison needs to cash a reality check asap.

It's still very early for this console cycle so i'm going to take a wait and see approach. I'm about 99% sure i'll get a 360. Which ever two systems that has the most appealing games to me will get my dollar.
